Chapter 11 – Unleashed Anger (2)
… … …
“It surely is a great news to hear the dead brought to life.” The King, Wicked’s brother, said, the excitement clear from his tone of voice, “Although losing the memories does put a damper to her return, but at least she won’t know of your mistake.”
The King intentionally said, for he loved how Wicked lose his composure. Nonetheless, the other party seemed to be unaffected.
“She’s a lucky girl, isn’t she? Surely she’s having fun.”
The king is known to be able to transform, as well as morph his features into that of a woman.
This made him more sensitive, and moody. The woman, who was one of the king’s personality, was the most difficult of all to get along with.
“Do take care of her this time around little brother.” The King said, his joyful tone replaced with seriousness, “After all, she is your prey.”
Wicked gave him a glare, and should looks kill, the king would have long died earlier.
“It wasn’t my fault.” He spat at his brother, “She ran away, straight into death’s embrace.”
“Still, it was your duty as her guardian to prevent it.”
“Ever the watchdog, aren’t you?” Wicked rebutted in sarcasm. If it was someone else being disrespectful to the king, they would’ve been punished for doing something unthinkable, but with him, the king only laughed at his expense, used to his brother’s temper.
After all, he couldn’t kill his own flesh and blood.
“Perhaps.” The king said, smiling tauntingly at him, “Moving on, I will be hosting a ball.”
“So soon?”Wicked asked, “It might not be a wise idea to hold one.”
“How so?” the king asked, “Security will be increased immensely, both inside and outside the palace.”
“It’s too much.”
“Not for the king, it isn’t. I have always loved the extreme.”
It was a futile attempt on Wicked’s part. The king would never be swayed. He also knew the kind of balls the king held, and it wasn’t pleasant. Regardless, he knew when to give up, seeing as he’ll only end up doing the king’s bidding anyway.
Not liking the flow of the conversation, Wicked averted his attention.
And at that moment, a blue bird flew towards him, landed on his shoulders and he took the white envelope attached to its beak.
It was an invitation letter.
“Tell her I wish her well.”The king grinned from ears to ear as he continued to talk. “I mean it. You better be careful in doing your duties now that she’s back in your hands.”Wicked who had his back facing the King turned around but he kept his cool.“After all, you’re only keeping her as a source of food, and not be eaten in the process.” He said sarcastically, which caused Wicked to release a chuckle…
The King was insinuating that his brother had turned soft to Ribbon, but he wasn’t bothered by it.
“She’s my food. How I play with her is none of your concern.”
Reclining on his seat, the King watched as Wicked walked away without a moment’s delay, a knowing smirk plastered on his face.
“Like I said,” he said, “She’s food. Not a pet.”
It was already dark when Yoona and Tomovoy left the mansion. Yoona took her time in preparing herself to the best of her ability, not exactly knowing what kind of clothes is fit to be in outdoors in this world.
Tomovoy also mentioned that the real beauty of Odora is only visible, and well appreciated, at night.
The vast majority of species, except a few, are nocturnal, beings who thrived more by night compared to the usual daytime activities.
Thanks to the Tomovoy who can manipulate the space around him, they’ve easily arrived in the village through teleportation, even though it was quite a far from the mansion.
“Wow! Truly a useful gift!” Yoona exclaimed.
She was in awe by what she was seeing so far. It was like a blast of wind had passed, blinding her vision momentarily and the next thing, she was in a village, a sea of colors.
“If I had this ability, I wouldn’t have had to go through all the trouble every morning to make it to class.” She elaborated. Realizing her mistake, Yoona winced, turning away so Tomovoy wouldn’t notice.
“Oh, nothing.” She laughed nervously and turned to the village in a hurry. The place truly was much more beautiful and magical than what she had expected. Under the brightly lit amber lights, people of different firms gathered.
It was truly a magical place.
A place she thought only existed in novel fantasies or fairytale books.
Despite the late hour, the market was crowded with people. They were all a variety of wonderful faces, as well as personalities. Some had horns, others a lower body of a horse, some with batwings, and others a hairy body. Of course, majority looked just like Tomovoy and Wicked, like normal people.
With all the variety of living species in Odora, it is only logical as well to have varying houses or abodes adorning the place.
There were houses shaped like round tombs, houses made of mud, others had houses made of jellies and fruits. Schools, hospitals and public amenities such as libraries and parks didn’t disappoint as well. They were all just as large and just as colorful. The unidentified features made her confused but she liked what she saw nonetheless.
Nights in Korea were a lonely and scary, but here it was lively and quite spectacular. She was eager to see more.
One shop caught her attention. It was filled with varieties of sweets.
“What are these?”
“Oh, those are candies that grow hair instantly when you eat it. Children usually buy those for fun on Halloweens. “
“It is spider silk thread. It’s highly viscous and sticky, and once it sticks, it will never fall off. It is often used as a hunting trap.”
Exploring a little further into the night, Yoona approached several more stores and studied various fortune-teller items. She even drank a drink from the fruit named Raja, which gave her an indescribable feeling, delighting her all the more.
She have asked questions and received many answers about their food, what the exquisite things were, and plenty more.
Then, an enormous number of people arrived at the store, where Tomovoy lined up to buy the ” cloud snack, ” the ” best seller in the store. ”
Yoona sat on a bench alone as she waited for Tomovoy to finish his purchase.
Without her notice, two men began to drew near her.
