Chapter 39 – Sick (4)
… … …
“I feel awful.”
Su Xin frowned and muttered, feeling extremely uncomfortable. Her muscles were sore and she could feel a pounding headache at the back of her head started to form.
She was severely injured some time ago leaving her body weak and susceptible to rigorous activities such as the one she just engaged herself into. It also didn’t help that the wind was extremely cold. She won’t be surprised that anytime soon, she’ll be bedridden again.
While Qu Feiqing remained a picture of health, she still felt the cold numbing her hands as the heat of their prior activity dissipated.
It was time for them to go or else, they would both catch a cold.
Qu Feiqing stood up and held out her hand to Su Xin, who was still sitting on the ground. Su Xin grabbed Qu Feiqing’s hand and stood up laboriously. If not for Qu Feiqing’s support, her legs would have gave way beneath her, it felt like jellies. She nevertheless planted her feet firmly and retracted her hand, as if the emperor’s hand were burning hers.
The longer she held, the greater was the mental turmoil it would cause her.
Su Xin patted the dirt on her body and lowered her head to see Qu Feiqing’s rather awkward expression.
They have done it, but it looked like Qu Feiqing did not feel like taking the responsibility.
They were on the same truck, Su Xin also didn’t desire to entertain such fanciful propositions. Qu Feiqing was an emperor after all, what occured between them should be better kept to themselves. In fact, she was ready to leave and forget like it never happened.
With all that said, Su Xin still couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment hit her.
“Tonight…” Qu Feiqing wanted to say something but held her words. She helped Su Xin straighten out her messy clothes instead.
Su Xin saw that something was bothering her but she just couldn’t elaborate it so she spoke instead, believing they were on the same page.
“Rest assure, Your Majesty. Xue Yao won’t say a word of this to anyone.”
“Were you.. infatuated with this emperor?” Qu Feiqing’s eyes were profound and she looked at Su Xin intensely.
If not, why bother follow her to Qu Liu country? If not, why approach her at the banquet? if not, why did Su Xin let herself be ravished by her just a moment ago?
“Ha?” Su Xin was stupefied, showing a confused expression.
“Your Majesty is overthinking. Her Majesty is like the bright moon in the sky; one could only admire from a distance because it is impossible to attain it.. Xue Yao noticed this. However, what took place was done out of heated passion, even if Xue Yao does not bear certain feelings towards Her Majesty…”
Su Xin’s remaining words were silenced by Qu Feiqing’s frightening eyes.
Master Fourteen, why do I feel that something is wrong?
[This.. host, you are really a dumb person.]
Who in their right mind, would tell a person whom they just did that they really didn’t like them? Even the system would not have made such a remark.
This was no longer a case of a simpleton, but rather someone with low EQ, or a slag.
I always feel you have something more to say.
[Is that right? You just feel wrong. ] Fourteen calmly said.
“Your Majesty, I’ll go first. See you later.”
Su Xin subconsciously felt that the situation was not heading in the direction she wanted it to. She left in a hurry while enduring the discomfort all the way.
Qu Feiqing looked at her retreating back and smiled.
Seeing Su Xin’s evasive exit, she was just tangled with her feelings. This was not an unexpected reaction from a young and naive girl, she thought.
Everyone’s character has a lot to do with the circumstances in which they grew up.
Su Xin was a straightforward person; she was not fond of talking in riddles. In her profession, it’s better to get straight to the point instead of taking too much time beating around the bush.
The leader of the organization valued her very much for this attribute. She never thought much about her every action and she do things right away without a bit of consideration about other petty matters. It was also for this reason that Su Xin approached Qu Feiqing untimely to ask her if she was beautiful.
