Chapter 122: Deceiving Uncle Sheng (20)
When Shu Nuan had just arrived at the academy, Su Hai stopped her. With a look of ridicule, he said, “Hey, it seems going to Class One makes one forget their old classmates!”
He would’ve liked to hear Shu Nuan’s indignant voice, but she only glanced at him and answered, “You’re right.”
Su Hai couldn’t help but widen his eyes. “Don’t you have a conscience?”
“Do you have something else to say?” Shu Nuan asked as they walked along the corridor.
“It’s my birthday tomorrow. I invited many classmates. You know all of them. Do you want to come too? Will you come?”
Shu Nuan knitted her brows. “Aren’t classes to be held the day after tomorrow?”
Su Hai paused before he said, “Not us. The day after tomorrow, we have a holiday.”
“Class One has to hold lectures,” Shu Nuan replied.
Su Hai continued to stare at her but said nothing.
“Don’t look at me like that.”
“You are such a great student. Why can’t you skip class for a day? You still don’t consider us your good friends… “
“I… will give it a try.”
As soon as Su Hai heard her words, he reminded her, “Then remember to take a leave of absence from your teacher.”
After obtaining Shu Nuan’s assurance, Su Hai just ran away.
However, Shu Huan returned to the class with a heavy heart. When she sat down in her seat, she saw Wen Zhigu sleeping with her head on the table. Sleeping like this early in the morning …
At the moment she sat down, Wen Zhigu heard her. The girl rubbed her eyes, barely opening them, and looked at her. She asked her weakly, “Shu Nuan, have you finished yesterday’s assignment?”
Shu Nuan nodded.
“Can you lend me your copy? I didn’t have time to do it yesterday.”
Shu Nuan didn’t ask her why she hadn’t had the time. Instead, she took out her notebook from her bag and handed it to her. Wen Zhigu propped up the effort to copy the assignment.
After she finished copying, she took Shu Nuan’s notebook along with hers and placed them at the teacher’s table. Upon coming back, she asked, “How are you doing at the Moon Pavilion?”
“No more,” Shu Nuan replied while reading.
Wen Zhigu pondered for a moment and understood. “Sorry, I was inconsiderate.”
Shu Nuan shook her head and said, “It’s alright, I have found another job now.
Wen Zhigu did not ask her what the job was, and only asked, “Have you found a good place to stay?”
“The wife of the shop-owner is good. She knows that I am a student of the Yulin Academy and has arranged accommodation for me.”
Wen Zhigu was relieved upon hearing her words. “That’s good.”
However, it was soon her time to suffer again.
Ji Xubai named two people from the Class. “Wen Zhigu. Shu Nuan.”
When their names were called, they had to stand up.
Ji Xubai walked over, at ease, leafing through several pages of their assignment, before throwing the notebooks on their desk with a sharp gaze. “Who copied whom?”
Wen Zhigu admitted her fault with a calm expression. “I copied Shu Nuan’s assignment.”
Hearing this, the class went into uproar.
No one had expected that even someone like Wen Zhigu would dare to copy Shu Nuan’s assignment.
Ji Xubai couldn’t help but smile. “I can also see. When did your way of solving problems become so concise? It is not that you cannot do these exercises. Did you forget the pain after the scar was healed? Did you forget your plummeting assessment results?”
Wen Zhigu’s face turned white. Only she had been able to hear him clearly. What did Ji Xubai mean by “forgetting the pain after the scar was healed”?
Her eyes turned to him, uneasy.
But Ji Xubai turned his head towards Shu Nuan with an indifferent gaze.
“And you. I don’t know if you became too conceited when you got into this class, but you can’t understand what to do and what not to do. It’s not clear to you, is it?” Ji Xubai said, before giving them both a fierce order. “Get out of here, finish ten laps, write a review of what you did today, and hand it to me in my library.”
