Chapter 35: Truth (1)
“What are your plans? Never mind, it’s best to depend on me, rely on me.” Said Kailar calmly. His eyes are like the steady horizon, face aglow with the last orange rays before twilight beckoned the stars. His lips bore the semblance of a smile, just enough to show how he thoroughly enjoyed the turning of the situation.
“The organization… I feel as if they’ll eliminate us.” Sophia tilted her head, pondering deeply. “It would be for the best to directly rely on you.”
“Enili…” The brown-haired swordswoman, Rola turned her head, eyes landing on the cold silver-haired woman, Enili.
“If Dinessa agrees to join you, I’m certain you have the capability to shelter us. If so, I’ll join you.” Enili replied calmly, tone blunt and straight to the point.
“If you join me, I promise to use my intel to help get Crea back after inheriting my Red Leaf.” Kailar said, mood rather jovial regarding the turnaround of the current situation. Facing Dinessa, he spread out his hand. “And your bloody wounds, I promise to heal them slowly with healing magic.”
“All right.” Dinessa nodded, lost in thought. The little girl who’d accompanied her earlier was nowhere to be seen. At this moment, she grew despondent and crestfallen. She sat on the ground, feeling the soil beneath her. Lightly closing her eyes, she looked as if she’d lost her soul.
“Hey!” A sudden slap on Dinessa’s cheek stunned everyone. “You should not stay like this. Your Crea awaits you, waiting for you to come. What qualifications do you have to be depressed?”
“…..” Dinessa instinctually touched her face. Shaking her head, her lips curved to a smile. “Yes… you are right.”
“Good.” He nodded. “I’ll be asking much of you in the near future. You are my protector, my knight.”
“Wait!” Gawain interjected. “Kai, why do you want her to be your knight? What about me?! What shall I do then?”
“Gawain…” Sighing wistfully, Kailar placed his hand on his cousin’s shoulder. “Don’t be naive… if you’re to really serve me for a lifetime as my knight, I’m afraid your father will come to chop me in half.”
“Wait, what about me?!” Attolis fumed. “Why am I not the chief knight?!”
“At this stage, it’s still Dinessa who’s the strongest, right?” Kailar cocked his head, his verbal words a malicious vermin. “When you’re strong and able to defeat Dinessa, then let’s talk about it.”
“Abominable…” She was more depressed than Dinessa. Her head dropped feebly, unable to find any words to refute Kailar’s blunt remarks.
“Well, everybody, since we’ve all made our minds, let me arrange the division of labor.” The little monster clapped his hand, gently drawing in everyone’s attention. “First, I’ll speak of my identity.”
“I am the first heir to Red Leaf. I’ve been awarded the title of a Wise Sage by the king of Camelot, Uther Pendragon. As one of the great future lords, I’m sure to inherit Red Leaf and its territories. Now I’ll distribute the tasks amongst you all.”
“This is my mount, the unicorn. Although it’s underage, it has served me well.” Kailar stroked its neck fondly.
“My, Priya, who’s also a minor.” He said with a smile.
Pointing towards Dinessa, his gesture was punctual. “Dinessa, the chief guard.”
“Enili, Sophia, Rola, you are also granted the title of knight. You are to follow my commands.”
“Gawain, currently a knight apprentice but soon to become one of the elite knights.” Gawain straightened his back and chest proudly. None underestimated his will. From the bravery he’d shown earlier when facing Priya’s oppression amongst them all, it allowed them to understand how far he’d go to become one of the greatest knights. Though he was young, they believed he’d grow to become a great man.
“There’s much to ask of you, but let’s wait till we get home. Dinessa, are you able to keep up?” The only one heavily injured was Dinessa. From the earlier fight, she suffered deep heavy wounds alongside Priya.
Priya’s fine now. Kailar had healed her.
“Do not underestimate me. I’m not number one for a reason.” She chuckled softly.
