Chapter 31: Beauty and the Beast
Kailar’s smile was, to say the least… no less than perfect and any girl and woman who’d see this perfect smile grew intoxicated.
But unlike others, this group of people with big swords held a rather different viewpoint. When they looked at Kailar, they shook their heads firmly.
“Why?” Though the likelihood of being rejected was there, Kailar showed no other emotions but a sweet, intoxicating smile as he asked the little girl.
“I am the sword of the organization. I will not betray the organization.” She said, her voice firm and resolute.
Damn it! Who was this organization? Kailar grew perpetually annoyed. The most important thing was to persuade her with his amazing intelligence. They’d met by chance and he was truly in awe of their skill. It truly is difficult convincing these group to surrender themselves to him. Very difficult!
“Haha..” The the other big sword, the one with golden waves smiled and put the big sword on her back. “I must have become a bit softer because of this child.”
“Well, let’s stop fighting for now. Let’s go back and pack. We can’t bother the people in this town any longer. Let’s go.” Turning around, she spoke to the brown haired girl.
Brown hair nodded and ran inside the inn.
“Although we can’t become your subordinates, you’re a good person.” Golden waves smiled, her hair fluttering softly against the wind.
“Though I don’t quite understand you and you may not understand me, I still wanted you to join but… in the end, I knew I’d be rejected,” the little monster was saddened, but he quickly put such thoughts away, “I am the Duke of Red Leaf. I hope you think of Red Leaf and visit me when you’re out journeying.”
All he could do was plant a good impression in this woman’s heart. Maybe in the future, she’d come to Red Lead willingly.
At least he’d like to think so.
Golden waves shrugged her shoulder and grabbed hold of the bag handed over by the brown-haired girl.
“Dinessa, I’ve brought all things you own.” Said brown hair.
“It’s quite heavy.” Golden waves smiled.
So her name is Dinessa… I guess it’s time to call her that, Kailar thought.
“No, it’s alright.” Brown hair was considerate.
“Thank you for your help. Goodbye.” Dinessa turned her head and gave Kailar a soft smile and a light nod. Then, golden waves and brown hair walked out of town step by step.
Lying on the ground surrounded by a pool of her own blood, Enili’s face twitched watching the Dinessa leave.
After a while, Enili slowly got up and watched their fading figure. “I can’t believe that… that smiling Dinessa would be merciful to her people. If that’s the case, our hope is preserved.”
Dragging her injured body over to Priya’s side, Enili began to comfort her. “Do not cry. Everything is not over. There is much to be worked on.”
“Forget it, let us go. What had just occurred happened to expose our identity. It’d be very troublesome for us.” Kailar turned and looked at Gawain, remembering that this was his family’s territory. Though it happened more than ten years ago, who knew if the previous lord of this land still had vengeance against Andrea Ettorek and Gawain’s father.
He needed to get out quick. The day’s coming to an end. Tomorrow, they’ll go ahead and watch the war and then, they’ll go back so he can go and set up an intelligence unit. Things had already developed this way. Kailar really despised himself for how things turned out. Probably didn’t try as much he had hoped for.
Gawain nodded and went back to the stables. As for their bags, they had nothing to carry. Bringing anything would just be troublesome. The only precious things on them was a sapphire ring, the unicorn, and the hybrid horse.
“Unforgivable!!” Suddenly, a burst of echoing roar filled the whole village. The force pushed Kailar and Attolis down without warning.
All the little monster could see was a speck of a dark shadow swiftly passing him by. The shadow jumped to the roof, collapsing just as a flash of explosive force blasted and the dark shadow flew out like a rocket.
“Was that… Priya…?” Kailar’s questioned, his mind suddenly moving into a whirlpool of various thoughts. His face morphed, unsure what had just happened.
“Dammit! Something must have happened.” Kailar bellowed. He pressed his index and thumb finger together, letting out a loud whistle. In less than a fifth of a second, the pure white unicorn appeared, standing majestically on top of the broken roof.
“Let’s go! Attolis!” As he climbed, he stretched out his hand towards his other company.
For a moment, Attolis was unwilling, but soon grabbed Kailar’s hand unreservedly. Jumping on the horse’s back, she hurriedly hugged Kailar’s waist.
“Kai, what happened?” Asked Gawain. He’d just gone to the stable to grab the hybrid horse when in the next moment, he heard a loud screech. He quickly rode the horse and arrived to see a desolate scene.
“Don’t ask too much question. Let’s go.” Kailar grabbed hold of the unicorn’s mane. He waved his hand, and soon, a three-light masses of orb covered Enili and the other two big swords.
“Go!” It was unknown whether he was speaking to the big swords or Gawain, but no matter, the unicorn galloped towards the direction Kailar pointed.
Keeping close to the unicorn’s accelerating speed, Gawain found himself in a bit of an uncomfortable situation. “Kai, what happened?”
“The girl just went away.” Kailar’s face looked bitter and ugly, the first Gawain and Attolis had ever seen. He was always calm and smiling. His figure was planted in their minds, but somehow… that graceful and elegant stature seemed to disappear at this moment.
The problem this time may be a bit bigger than they had imagined, Kailar thought. His mind was jumping around, attempting to connect clues that he missed earlier but he was left in vain.
Seeing the face that looked like a monster, Kailar felt true terror for the first time in this world.
“On the top!” The sound of the big sword’s voice echoed. They were already on the slopes of the mountain.
“Go up!” Cried Kailar.
Going up the slope, Gawain was glad there were no stones hindering his path, otherwise, this horse of his would not be able to keep up with the jumping unicorn. He looked at the unicorn, rather jealous. This unicorn had proven its superiority, all right.
When they arrived at the scene, all they saw was Priya. She had turned to a monster they could no longer recognize, her speed able to keep up with Dinessa. Not only did her face morphed to a beastly monster, but her hand was also able to bend itself horrifyingly, forming an attack the normal human body would not be able to do.
“….What’s going on here?” Kailar murmured as he watched the battle between beauty and the beast
