Chapter 30: Power of Wisdom

“Stop right there!” Kailar suddenly stepped in between the four, their aura filled with killing intent. He wasn’t stumped by it, only smiling casually.

“Brat, go away.” The silver hair, one with pointed ears coldly said to him.

“Listen to me first.” Kailar smiled. He moved forward and stood next to the golden waves, the golden wavy-haired woman.

“I know not why you wish to kill, but as a noble first and foremost, I sincerely invite you to listen to what I wish to say.” Kailar said, prim and proper, behaving as would a real aristocratic noble.

“Stop joking around. Get out of the way or we’ll kill you too.” The silver-haired woman threatened.

“No!” On the contrary, the youngest of them blocked the silver-haired woman’s route of attack. “Senior Enili, our duty is to protect humans not kill. If you want to kill, I will stop you!”

“Go away, Priya.” Enili said to her.

“No!” The youngest obstinately refused.

“First, let me correct your point of view,” he smiled, “why do you put human beings in a weaker position and place yourself in a position of rulership, dictatorship, and guardianship?”

“No matter how you gained your strength and power,” he squeezed his hand, “you still can’t place yourself in the highest position.”

“Your mentality is wrong which is why you have trouble understanding things. Why can’t humans kill, right?” Then, he opened his hands and seemed to grasp the whole town in his hands, chest seemingly capable of embracing the entire world.

“Human beings are the least valuable of things. War, famine, diseases, anger, sadness, happiness, all this can make the frail man die. Let alone that, we aren’t worth money at all. Then, what is the difference between a human and devils beasts?” Kailar asked passionately, “Contribution. Without contributions to the world, we are no better than plundering savages. We’ll always struggle. We become knights, we become merchants, a nobleman, a rich man, a lord, a king, an emperor. We struggle. These so-called human experience, they matter not, right? They’re just things, right?”

Kailar smiled and pointed to those who retreated back to their homes; to those cowering, afraid to show their faces.

“If the cost of saving ten people is equivalent to killing one, why shouldn’t this one person die?” He turned and questioned the girl who was not much older than him.

“If these ten people’s death can save one hundred people, why shouldn’t these ten die?” He spoke like a true philosopher speaking back and forth in circles.

“If the death of one hundred can guarantee the survival of one thousand, why shouldn’t the one hundred die?” Kailar smiled, then halted, “but if the person I care for is dying, why should I care for the lives of the other thousand that I don’t know?”

“A king and a farmer, they are just as important to society, but in order for one to live, which one must die? Who should die then? Of course, it is the farmer not because of status nor power, but merely because the king’s contributions to the world as a whole is far greater than that of a farmer. It is the natural balance of things.”

“It is like asking Enili. Who should she choose? Should she choose you, Priya or her, golden waves? One of you must die in order for the other to live.” He pointed out.

“Enili, who would you choose to die? Priya or golden waves?” Kailar did not wait for Enili reply. “You would, of course, choose Priya because we’re just selfish beings able to think.”

“Of course, there are myriads of reasons to find out why. Maybe because she’s young, because she’s much to learn, because she has infinite potential…” he named seven or eight other reasons in one breath, shrugging towards the end, “but those are just to deceive yourself. There is only one true reason, Enili. Because you are her friend and that other woman, she is the enemy, right?”

He smiled, causing Priya’s heart to shake.

“Priya, dodge! Move!” Enili had much battle experience. When she saw her friend slowly losing the will to fight, what should she do?

She twisted her big sword, sending Priya to the side and Kailar flying away.

Before Priya could come back to her senses, Enili, and the other two surrounded the woman with golden wavy hair and poised themselves ready before striking towards her.

The power of the short blonde haired woman was great but it was not enough to strike golden waves down. The short blonde hair’s speed could not match golden waves momentum.

Enili waved her big sword. It’d be invisible to the naked eye, but for golden waves, she easily avoided it.

Without Priya around, the person able to fight on par with golden waves, the other three’s attacks were easily countered by golden waves.

Soon, the three laid in a pool of blood they called their own.

Golden waves turned and moved towards Priya. Arriving in front of this young girl, she raised her sword, ready to fall at any moment.

“Damn it! She discovered Priya’s potential and her unlimited growth, planning to kill her in the cradle!” Enili’s face contorted with anger and slammed her fist into the ground. Her furious gaze landed on Kailar. It’s all this stupid kid’s fault! Speaking nonsense and shaking Priya’s will… now she can’t bring herself to fight anymore!

“Just a moment please.” Kailar continued, smiling as he’d always done in the beginning. He stepped forward and blocked the path between Priya and golden waves.

“Would you like to become a part of my family and be my subordinate?” He asked golden waves.

“Not interested.” Golden waves refused. Though she was grateful for this kid helping her out, she had not the inkling interest of becoming a slave to the corrupt aristocracy.

“All right.” Kailar was not disappointed in the slightest. Rather, her smile grew fierce. “Then, Miss Priya, I, Kailar Ettorek, sincerely invite you to join my family? Won’t you become a person I can count on?”

His initial goal was never golden waves. Even if he were to seduce golden waves with a life of luxury and glory, she’d still not agree. But the other girl, Priya. He had a chance with her. This girl who could easily be shaken with sweet words was an easy target to win over. If his luck was good enough, he might even manage to take the other three woman under his command.

The power of wisdom was powerfully evident at this moment.
