Chapter 4: Masta Auction House & Earl Wells
Moments before this happened, Lu Qiu was awakened by an extremely strong stench assaulting her nostril. The smell was so bad that she immediately felt like she was going to faint again just after she woke up.
It was as if a smelly blanket was covering her. It was so stinky, smelling just like a septic tank that had not been cleaned in 800 years.
The smell was so revolting it made her unable to even open her eyes. It was to the point physiological tears involuntarily slide from her eyes to her face, and made her unfamiliar surroundings blurry.
Despite being unable to see through her tears, she could still feel her surroundings. So, she knew she was lying in a narrow, soft but warm and slippery place. There seemed to be walls that prevented her from moving freely.
However, irrespective of her restriction, she could feel the wind was blowing in front of her. After struggling for a while, she turned around with difficulty. From her blurry sight, she vaguely saw an extremely stiff and tall pillar.
But before she could even figure out what it was, she heard a long and thundering howling sound.
Hearing that, Lu Qiu tried to react. However, she couldn’t as she was now between a giant wolf’s mouth, which had its teeth around the pillars she saw. It should be the wolf she saw before she fainted. She then made her conclusion after taking in all these facts in her mind. It seemed the wolf was in the middle of being chased by other animals before he could eat her.
In the end, it was impossible to avoid the fifteenth day of the month. Lu Qiu thought as she shivered in the mouth of the smelly giant wolf. At this moment, she wished she could just faint again.
Bang Boom Boom!
The wolf that bit her seemed to be fighting fiercely with other animals right now. However, she didn’t have the presence of mind to care about that right now, because she had almost thrown up yesterday’s meal due to the bumps.
The bloody smell mixed up with the strong stench rushed up to her nostril, making her nauseous. Lu Qiu currently did not know whether to pray for herself or the wolf who was about to eat her.
On the other side, at the Masta Auction House.
Ruth, who was in contact with Pickley just now, was carefully receiving the distinguished guest.
He was a huge long-haired cat with a size that was close to four meters. He had round amber eyes, and a face always revealed impatience and a fierce expression; which gave people the impression he was ready to rush and bite you at any time. As soon as the mouth moved, the sharp canine and sharp teeth inside revealed.
His figure was not long enough to be called slender and elegant. And to be honest, he even looked a little fat because of his long fur. Moreover, his gray fur looked dirty, like he hadn’t bathed in ten years. But no one dared to make fun of him or despise him.
Because, anyone who dared to say something bad about Earl Wells in public would be beaten by him into a miserable shape. Not only that, the person beaten wouldn’t be allowed to have its wounds treated as well; since the earl said they must feel the pain for at least a month.
He was the type to hold a grudge. Moreover, his means of revenge were also more extreme than those of the Black Ravens tribe. However, no one could do anything about it since his force was unparalleled in this area. One feared that in this whole Black Rock Star, there weren’t many who were able to beat him. So, when one was targeted by him, they could only lament their bad luck.
At this time, Wells was lazily leaning on the huge soft recliner with fluffy long fur spread out, tilting two short hind legs behind. His ears were hidden in his thick and long fur, revealing only two low-lying tips. He grinded his sharp claws impatiently on the stone table in front of him, and slowly, it was grounded straight into stone powder.
Ruth was holding his device at the time while glancing sadly at the stone table that was about to be worn down.
“Earl Wells, you see, these are the new darlings that we’ve picked up recently. Some colorful long-tailed birds are also popular with the people recently, and these special variants are all new products that have just been bred. Therefore, I can assure you; nothing in this list has a plain look. Tonight, it will enter the auction house.”
Normally, the goods that were going to enter the auction house couldn’t be bought in advance, but Wells was different. He was the boss behind the auction house. So no one dared to offend him.
However, Wells only squinted his eyes at the best pets list that was turned over to him. His eyes remained indifferent as he picked up his pace, becoming faster and faster.
From that, Ruth could sense his apathy and felt his scalp numbed down to the root. The longer Well’s expression and movements remained unchanged, the deeper the despair Ruth felt.
It took a long time before he finally spoke, but when he spoke, his voice was different from the softness of a normal cat. However, even then it was very clear to everyone there that he’s disinterested just from hearing his flat tone. “Just this many things? The standard of your auction house is getting lower and lower.”
The stone table, which had been used as a claw sharpener up until now, finally collapsed under his constant friction.
Ruth couldn’t help wiping the sweat on his forehead and then rubbed his eyes. The flying stone powder floated around before his eyes, making him almost cry.
A new message came in. It was from Pickley and this time he had sent him the good news. As soon as he saw the images, Ruth knew immediately that this superb mutant hairless monkey would cause a sensation.
At the same time, Earl Wells saw Lu Qiu when the device screen lit up.
The big cat who had been lazy on the recliner immediately lifted his front paws and extended his paws to point on his device. He looked at the small animal above and said with an indisputable tone: “I want this one!”
… He could only blame his slow hand for not covering it up. Thus, making him miss his chance to make the auction house popular.
But, he was not down for long as he soon rallied himself, contacting Pickley. However, this time Pickley who was usually fast in responding to his message, didn’t reply.
Wells, meanwhile, was a little impatient as he waited for Ruth’s reply. So, he swiftly got up from the recliner without nary a sound, shocking Ruth.
“Pickley was in the Falling Star Forest, right? I’ll find it myself.” He said as he instantly disappeared from the place.
Meanwhile, Lu Qiu, who was still on the verge of life and death, did not know that a giant cat had taken a fancy to her.
