Chapter 34 - Purple Afterglow
“Uh, then… Are you saying that I should sleep here?”
“Of course,” Heerak answered, then bluntly furrowed his brows. “Doseon.”
“Even if you wanted to go home immediately, you shouldn’t have talked about taking a bus or hailing a cab.”
“Sorry? Then…” Doseon trailed off, looking like he truly had no idea what he should have asked. Heerak pulled up the corner of his mouth and said firmly.
“You should have asked for a ride back. You should have told me to take you home safely. What else? What did you take me for? Did you think that I was going to tell you to go home because I was done with you?”
Doseon flinched and answered straight away. “No! Not at all. But still, I wouldn’t dare make that request to you, Director.”
“Who said you should ask the director? You should ask that to Heerak Cho—me, the human who spent a hot and steamy time with you. And request? This is barely a request. This is something you can demand. You have every right to.”
Doseon didn’t answer. He only quietly listened. Heerak didn’t know what he should do with this man, who shut his mouth tightly whenever he felt cornered.
“Why aren’t you answering? Did you understand what I said?”
“I understood,” Doseon answered calmly. He looked like he was pouting, so Heerak felt a smile slipping out. Heerak thought he was obstinate, but this person was quite stubborn as well.
“It sounds like you understood, but you have no intention of listening to my suggestions.”
Heerak snickered. “Well, whatever. I can just knock out all these useless thoughts from now on.” Heerak stood up when he finished talking. He shoved his hands under Doseon’s armpits, and Doseon—who was weak and drained—readily complied.
When Doseon realized Heerak completely lifted him up, he panicked and whined, asking him to put him down, which Heerak ignored. Doseon wasn’t as light as a feather, but he wasn’t so heavy that Heerak couldn’t carry him to the bathroom. Heerak supported Doseon’s back and buttocks tightly and simply whispered, “Stay still and wrap your arms around my neck.”
The heart of the city had a purple glow.
Doseon, who didn’t look like he was going to sleep any time soon, drifted off not long after he laid down on the bed. Heerak was also very tired, but he couldn’t fall asleep very easily. He felt like it was a waste to fall asleep. He heard that when people were excited, they couldn’t fall asleep easily, and this fit the situation perfectly.
The man before him was in deep sleep and seemed like he would not awaken no matter what was being done to him. Heerak poked the tip of Doseon’s nose and kissed his mouth and cheeks, but Doseon’s eyes were shut, dead to the world. It made Heerak think that Doseon passed out to some degree.
At some point, Heerak was simply staring at Doseon’s face.
In a room darkened by blackout curtains and illuminated by only a faint glow of the lamp, Heerak felt a bit peculiar gazing at a sleeping person’s face. It might have been more so since this was the first time he had ever done this.
A face that didn’t have any sharp angles nor particularly striking features—it was hard to believe that Heerak staring at a strictly average beta’s face, mesmerized, was a reality and not a dream.
He didn’t know how much time had passed.
He could not fall asleep.
Heerak decided to leave the room where Doseon was breathing evenly and in a deep sleep.
The sheets on the bed that they shared intimate moments in were damp with sweat and semen. Heerak did not want to use that bed nor make Doseon sleep on it. As soon as he came out of the bathroom, he carried Doseon—wrapped in a nightgown—and went straight into the guest bedroom.
Doseon looked a bit puzzled, so Heerak mumbled, “Because we soaked the sheets there.” Doseon looked cute as he nodded in understanding. He wasn’t sure if it was just his eyes playing tricks, but Heerak thought Doseon’s cheeks were tinged pink. He couldn’t hold himself back from planting a kiss on those blushing cheeks, at which Doseon made that soft smile that drove him crazy. Heerak couldn’t hold himself back any longer. This time, he kissed Doseon’s lips. They exchanged sweet kisses on the fresh bed for a long time.
Heerak felt like he would be content with staring at Doseon’s sleeping face all night long. However, there were a few reasons he dragged himself out of the bed. He wanted to grab his phone and pick up the clothes that were strewn about on the bathroom floor. He thought he might as well figure out Doseon’s clothing size. He didn’t want to send Doseon home in the clothes and underwear that were neglected on the floor all night. Heerak was never so grateful to have a shopping mall nearby.
Heerak thought that he was merely feeling a bit giddy.
He didn’t think it was bad that something strange was happening to him. Just up until a week or two ago, his thoughts tangled into a mess every time he recalled Doseon, but now he felt oddly relieved and free.
Nothing was actually solved. They only had s*x one more time.
Heerak decided to contemplate what exactly made him feel so refreshed later on.
It was when he stopped in front of the master bedroom that he felt nauseous, and Heerak held his breath without realizing it.
The room was thick with pheromones.
That wasn’t all. The pheromones were so sharp and dense that he felt like he would drop dead from asphyxiation. This was the first time his head hurt from his own pheromones. Most alphas probably would never experience this.
Was he so preoccupied that he didn’t notice this before?
