Chapter 27 - The Morning of The Duchess (19+)
Her insides, having accepted Eli as their first man, were incredibly hot and tight. Eli claimed her lips again, his tongue wriggling through her lips and sucking in hers. He mounted her body, spreading her thighs open and coiling them around his firm waist.
Edna grimaced as if she were preparing for an imminent pain. At the sight of her holding her breath, Eli realized what she had meant by saying that she would bear with it. Perhaps she meant that she was hurt due to not being used to sex. Eli pushed his body in very gently as if to refute her words.
When her hot insides swallowed his manhood, Eli hung his head and uttered a groan from deep within his throat. With one hand supporting his weight, Eli began to move slowly, stroking her face with the other. Edna’s face had hardened in anticipation of pain, but after a moment she opened her eyes to look up at him.
As he slowly pushed deeper and deeper into her with delight, Edna raised one hand with a gasp and touched his face.
It suddenly occurred to her that she was now given a new life as Edna, the wife of this man, not Eden. This was the world she had been longing for all her life. She realized that he may be different from whom he was rumored to be from the soft, passionate appearance he was showing her right now. She felt with her whole body that his bloodthirsty warrior facade was not everything.
Eli’s movements grew faster and deeper. She let out her breath and moaned intermittently until she fell into a whirlpool of pleasure under his guidance.

The next morning, Edna opened her eyes at the merciless sunlight on her eyelids. When she looked around, she saw Eli’s sleeping countenance lying prone. His unruly blonde hair made his face look rather soft.
Edna lay still for a moment and watched him sleep. She already knew that there were outstanding individuals among the common people. But she had never heard of this man while living in the palace. Nevertheless, she couldn’t help but wonder how he had won Cayden’s trust to the point that he was conferred the title of a duke. His somewhat profane remarks were also questionable. He had definitely said, “until Cayden lets me go”. Didn’t this mean that Cayden had a reason to hold on to Eli? Edna looked at him with a clear head, mulling over the meaning of his words.
Last night, Eli gave her pleasure. As if he knew that his rough gestures were a great pain to her and compensated her for them. The pleasure she felt yesterday broadened her horizons again. It occurred to her that if she were born ordinary, she could have jumped into the whirlpool of emotions like this person and enjoyed the vivid feelings of life.
“Live as a woman in the world you’ve longed for all your life.”
Suddenly, her mother’s voice resounded in her ears. It was a completely unexpected situation, but it most certainly presented an opportunity. An opportunity to enjoy her life as a duchess under the protection of Eli, a commoner who had risen to the position of a duke. Plus, Eli gave her the opportunity to rebuild the land on her own.
If she could give the hope of life that Ducaine III had taken away back to the despairing people, then she may be able to wash away her deep-seated guilt, regardless of whether she ended up dying in the process. Edna also pondered whether she could trade her life for their hopes as Cecil did.
Edna continued to ponder, closing her eyes tightly and covering her face with both hands. For the past two years, she had struggled desperately to survive. Even breathing was painful, but she just lived on for the people who died because of her, and she never tasted the meaning of life.
Edna slowly raised herself up and swept a hand through her hair. Eli slept throughout the time she spent picking up the clothes spread on the floor. Edna, dressed up fully, looked at Eli with somewhat complicated eyes. She picked up his clothes, brushed them, and put them on the table.
Her gait toward the door was light as if she had sorted out all the thoughts that had been swirling inside. Opening the door, she mulled over her thoughts again. ‘Yes, even if my identity is revealed and I die, I’ll do everything I can until that time comes. As the Duchess, I will restore this place to its former glory. That’s what I have to do, and that’s why I survived.’

Eli woke up with a frown at the loud noise coming from outside. He had finally fallen asleep at dawn, after burying himself in the throes of passion that lasted all night. When Eli looked around casually, his eyes landed on the empty space next to him.
Suddenly, he realized that once again he had not felt Edna’s movements, and he jumped up in amazement. His randomly discarded clothes had been picked off the ground, neatly folded and placed on the table, and a basin containing washing water was put next to them. But that was not all. The longsword he had unfastened from around his waist lay gently on his clothes. Yet he hadn’t heard her at all!
