Chapter 11 - Wedding Night (19+)
She had a thin face, hair tainted with a red flair at the tips, smooth skin, round, soft breasts, and trembling red lips. Most of all, it was most impressive to see her whole body shaking in fear while her shoulders were set straight.
Eli looked at her quietly and thought for a moment. He was a little disappointed that she wasn’t Anna. But the woman in front of me is just as beautiful as Anna.
Eli quietly moved his eyes back to her body. He could see her heart pounding every time she breathed in and out, making a bolt of desire surge through him violently.
“Did you say she was sick? Did she refuse to come to a lowly person like me?” Eli asked her quietly and Edna shook her head. He released the tuft of her hair he was holding and it flowed down to her shoulders. Her hair was short for a woman. The illegitimate child had a delicate appearance about her. Looking at her towering nose and clear lips, Eli opened his mouth again. “That’s why you came by your own free will, putting your neck on the line?”
What free will? That can’t be true. She had no choice in the first place, except to unquestioningly follow their orders, but she nodded silently. Of course, Eli wasn’t about to believe that.
“Viscount William seems to be very generous to his illegitimate children, given that he voluntarily granted his bastard child’s request to be my wife. That is a quality sure to be appreciated. However…” Eli paused and held her face in one hand, turning it to face his. Edna met his cold gaze calmly. Eli went on, looking at her golden eyes. “It was a terrible choice, Edna. I’m sure you didn’t even receive proper treatment as his daughter, yet you sacrificed yourself like this. I feel sorry for you. You must have heard what I’m like. Aren’t you afraid?”
“Those rumors mean nothing to me anyway,” Edna said quietly, thinking she was as good as dead now. “I had no other choice in the matter, to begin with.”
Her situation was vividly drawn in his mind’s eye. Eli knew well that illegitimate children had no will. Edna’s input must have not been taken into consideration up until now. Even though she knew she could die, she was not in a position to refuse to come here. Eli knew this very well. Her tone was already as calm as if she was ready to welcome death. Curiosity and desire soared within him again, but he did not show any of it outwardly and opened his mouth again in a cool tone, “Are you a virgin?”
Her eyes widened and her lips quivered at the unexpected question. Eli slowly squeezed her breasts and continued, “A noble is out of the question for a commoner like me. A humble illegitimate child might just suit me better. Especially one whose beauty doesn’t fall behind Anna’s.”
Edna realized that he was going to accept her and endured the pain caused by his touch.
As far as the rumors went, he was going to kill her and turn Viscount William’s castle into rubble. But why was he trying to accept her? But the question quickly disappeared. Eli hovered his fingers on her chest and Edna’s body began to tremble again. His hot hand determinedly brought the dress down from her waist to the floor. Her undergarments were stripped off her without leaving her any room for resistance. In an instant, Edna’s whole body, standing before him stark naked, went flush red. Eli examined her body with a critical eye for a while. Edna quickly picked up a piece of clothing that had fallen on the floor and covered her nakedness, feeling the heat of his shrewd desire.
“Unless you want to die, put it away right this instant.” Speaking in a low but powerful grumble, his voice contained his promise to carry out his threat. Edna bid her trembling eyelids to push back her tears.
“If you turn out not to be a virgin, you won’t see the sunshine tomorrow morning,” Eli added.
It wasn’t just an empty threat. When she realized that he was very well capable of killing her, chills spread through every inch of her skin. The desire to cry and shout to his face the fact that she wouldn’t just accept her death lying down, that she did not survive up to this day just to die pathetically like this, echoed in Edna’s mind. She flung the clothes covering her chest away.
Eli looked at her, crinkling one eye. It was clear as day that she had a shorter temper than her looks suggested.
“If I were a virgin, would you accept me?” Edna asked him, looking straight back at him. This time, she was really prepared to die.
“As my wife, or as my bed warmer?”
“Both.”
Eli frowned and uttered coldly at her bold declaration. “I don’t like that tone.”
“I can’t do anything about it. I have to say what’s on my mind before I die. Answer me. If I were a virgin, would you accept me or would you kill me?” Edna pressed, undaunted by his words.
