Chapter 75 - Tipsy
Even while working, I glanced out the window multiple times to check if Keith had gotten out of the car. However, he didn’t seem to want to move at all. Finally, after 30 minutes had passed, the door opened. Thankfully, I was also done with the first bit of my work by then.
‘Maybe he’s angry at me,’ I guessed. He might have taken some time to himself in the car so that he could calm his anger. He must not have wanted to even see me.
But what could I do about what had already happened?
I calmly reminded myself of the reality that I was in. The reason why Keith had me with him to begin with was that I was capable. To be exact, I got things done the way he wanted before he even mentioned it to me. To him, my private life must be completely out of his mind.
Even if an article of me dancing naked in the streets and getting arrested were to be uproariously listed as CNN’s top news, Keith would probably just nonchalantly ask, “So what’s the schedule today?”
I recalled how I got hit, beaten, and insulted to hell and back trying to clean up after Keith’s private life. Compared to that, falling asleep on his lap didn’t seem like a big deal.
I purposefully ignored how the memory of that sensation made my heart beat faster and my lower area flare up.
Finally, I continued to justify my own actions and waited for an opportunity to speak to Keith. Keith, who finally came up to the second floor, saw me standing in the hallway and jolted.
For some reason, his pheromones were even stronger now. He must actually be angry. Having confirmed my doubt, I felt the blood draining from my face.
“Mr. Pittman,” I squeaked croakily, “I have rescheduled everything. Would you like me to print it and leave it in the study?”
All Keith did was give a brief nod. He brushed past me without even giving me a proper reply. A strong scent of pheromones brushed the tip of my nose. I tightly held onto my fading consciousness and hurriedly turned my head.
“Mr. Pittman!” I called out desperately. Keith stopped in his tracks. A few seconds went by before he turned around.
For a moment, Keith looked extremely tired. I felt my heart drop as I began, “Um, I’m sorry. I’ll make sure to control myself so that I don’t get drunk next time…”
When I apologized awkwardly, Keith stared at me for a moment in silence. Just as I anxiously hoped that he would show some kind of reaction, Keith asked, “Do you always fall asleep when you’re drunk?”
I blinked in surprise at the unexpected question. I quickly felt ashamed as I replied, “Oh… Yes. Falling asleep is my drinking habit. I usually don’t drink until I fall asleep, but I must have had too much today…”
Keith simply stared at my face without a word. I couldn’t possibly tell what was going through his mind just by looking at his expression. Still, it was a relief that he didn’t seem to be completely sick of me.
“…Hahh.” Keith sighed and turned around. Still in confusion, I stared at Keith as he walked into his room.
An hour later, I got a call from Keith. For some reason, he was in a bad mood once again. Keith barked over the phone, “Book the hotel. Now.”
“Oh, yes. Underst—” Before I finished replying, I realized that the call had already ended. But there was no time to space out. I quickly called Naomi and contacted the hotel. I asked them to prepare a room right away and subsequently called Whitaker.
“Right now? Didn’t he just come back?” Whitaker must have just gotten into resting mode; he sighed before replying, “Understood,” and hanging up. After making all the calls, I left my room. I had to report back to Keith, but knocking on his door took me a bit of courage.
Recalling the displeasure that could be felt from across the phone, I took a deep breath. Just then—
“…?” I could smell a thick cloud of pheromones right away. Despite the door being tightly shut, the scent was still very strong. Was he that angry?
‘Why?’ I wondered.
Right away, I remembered the mistake that I had made earlier today, but that couldn’t be the only reason. Knowing Keith, he wouldn’t have let me live it down if he were so angry about that. He would have made countless sarcastic remarks to my face.
I knocked on the door with a tinge of concern. I was about to open the door after a brief wait when I heard Keith’s voice from inside.
“What?” he growled. I had never heard him shout so coarsely. What was going on? It didn’t just seem like it was because he was angry at me.
I tilted my head in confusion. “Um, it’s Yeonwoo. I booked the hotel and asked Ms. Parker to come as well. They’re preparing the car at the moment, so you should be good to leave in about 10 minutes.” Keith didn’t reply. I hesitated before adding, “Um, Mr. Pittman? Is everything okay?”
I considered opening the door for a moment, but I soon tucked away the urge. If Keith had something he wanted me to do, he would have said so himself. I waited a little more, but there was still no response.
I chose to retreat. “I’ll be returning to my room, then. Please do call me if there’s anything you need.”
I stood still on that spot for a little while before turning around. One reason why I couldn’t stay any longer was because of Keith’s pheromones that continued to overflow. As soon as I returned to my room and closed the door behind my back, I sank to the floor. My heart was palpitating and my body was heating up. It was getting unbearable.
