Chapter 35 - Hidden Intention
“Mr. Whitaker? This is Yeonwoo. Mr. Whitaker?”
“… is… so…”
The voice kept cutting in and out, and I couldn’t comprehend what he was saying. The connection seemed bad, perhaps due to the commotion over there. Left with no other choice, I hung up and continued to drive. I had to solve this issue as soon as possible.

When I arrived at the mansion where the party was being held, there were security staff members all over the place. All of them were on standby to protect their employers.
Seeing so many gammas in one place was probably only possible where Extreme Alphas gathered. No matter the classification—alpha or omega—gammas were the least affected by pheromones, although it was said to be possible for them to be affected under prolonged exposure.
As these thoughts ran through my head, I hurriedly searched for Whitaker. The reason why they were so unaffected by pheromones was that they couldn’t smell them. Hence, if I were to choose not to reveal myself, they couldn’t tell at all if I was an alpha, beta, or whatever. The security guard who stopped me was no exception. Even while he was checking my identification, he sent a glance my way—personal curiosity or some other reason. I was used to it, and I quickly explained myself.
“I’m Mr. Pittman’s secretary. I have something to report, so I’m here to see Mr. Whitaker—the one in charge of bodyguarding. I’m an omega.”
“Oh…” His brows subtly scrunched up, for obvious reasons.
I immediately added, “I already know what kind of party this is. I’ll be leaving as soon as I talk to Mr. Whitaker, so you don’t need to worry about that.”
Since many people attending pheromone parties often brought in omegas who sold their bodies, people like me could get into an accident where they unwantedly became involved. My heart felt cold as I recalled the last incident, but I couldn’t turn back now. He seemed contemplative, but he soon stepped aside and made room for me to pass.
“Be careful. Things are really going down right now.”
I thanked him for the additional warning remark and went in. I even shoved two scent-neutralizing candies into my mouth at once. I felt the tip of my nose become numb as I searched for Whitaker. He must be waiting at his assigned position.
Just as I was frantically looking around, I spotted one of Keith’s security staff.
“Hey! Um—”
I quickly chased after him and grabbed his arm. He soon recognized me and seemed surprised.
“Yeonwoo? Why are you here?”
“Something urgent came up, so I came to see Mr. Whitaker. Where is he? The signal doesn’t seem great.”
He took out his phone and clicked his tongue. “The pheromones must have messed with the devices. It happens pretty often. Funny how machines get enchanted by pheromones that some humans can’t even smell, hm?”
He laughed, but I wasn’t in the mood to laugh with him. He saw that I had no reaction and quickly turned his face in awkwardness.
“Follow me. He’s probably in the parking lot.”
I followed behind him for a while, and just as I had heard, I could see Keith’s Bentley among the rows of expensive cars. Whitaker was standing on the sidewalk not too far from there and talking to another security staff.
“Mr. Whitaker!”
I yelled out his name in relief. He turned around without expecting much and opened his eyes wide in surprise.
“Why are you here, Yeonwoo? Are you feeling alright?”
He was probably referring to the last party’s incident. I pushed the candies onto my cheek to make it protrude for him to see and smiled. Whitaker laughed back before remembering to take out his own candy from his pocket and ripping the plastic wrapping.
“Anyway, what happened? You were calling, right?” He popped the candy into his mouth and scrunched up his face. “Things seem extremely hectic today. I heard that one of the Extreme Alphas completely lost it. He’s in rut or something. His pheromones must be overflowing since all the devices are going weird. I wonder if the car will move properly.”
Whitaker clicked his tongue and worriedly turned toward Keith’s car. Growing impatient, I quickly got down to business.
“I went to break the news to Miss Annabel James today and found something suspicious. Here’s a photo.”
I quickly found the photo that I had taken using my phone and gave him it to look at. Whitaker immediately hardened his face and checked the screen.
Whitaker knotted his brows together. “Sperm bank storage? What’s this?”
He looked confused. As he continued to flip through the photos, he blinked repeatedly.
“Wait, so are you saying that this person stole Mr. Pittman’s sem*n?”
“That’s what it seems like. It’s being stored in this sperm bank. If we don’t find it soon and take action…”
I spilled out my thoughts, but his reaction was somewhat strange. He stroked his chin and groaned as he returned my phone to me.
“Understood. We’ll confirm it first and report this to Mr. Pittman as well.”
I was taken aback by his unexpectedly lukewarm attitude. “Don’t we need to get this sorted quickly? If she decides on artificial insemination or to sell it—”
Keith shrugged one of his shoulders. “If she were to sell it, she would have to prove that it’s Mr. Pittman’s sperm. How would she obtain Mr. Pittman’s DNA? If she were to analyze them, her stealing would be exposed immediately. There’s no way she’d do something that stupid. If she were to try artificial insemination…”
