Chapter 9: Monster Recruit (1)
The recruit’s finished their breakfast in tandem and quickly loaded in a set of morning exercise. Thereafter, they hurriedly ran to the barracks and dressed themselves neatly in their utility uniform before gathering in the square awaiting their next order.
Their usual training officer was Officer Brandt but he was nowhere to be seen. Rather, a strong and muscular man in his late middle-age would be training them today. His pale skin tanned well under the bright sunshine and his muscles full and bulging.
“Officer Brandt is off today so I will be leading the training today! My name is Joseph Kingsly but you will call me Instructor Kingsley! Is that understood?!”
“Is that understood?!”
“Is that understood?!”
“Now then, let’s get started.”
Joseph Kingsley looked at all the faces of the recruits.
His eyes landed on Kyle who was at the second row.
Steve turned his head nervously as he looked at his friend.
Yesterday, there seemed to be a popular new recruit who shined bright like a diamond in your team. Recruit, come on out!” Joseph Kingsley issued a command.
Kyle immediately stepped out of the orderly line.
“Oh, I didn’t expect you to have a pretty face. Anyways, your pistol shooting can be counted as a professional sharpshooter.” He half praised. “But you can only be a sharpshooter. To be a good American soldier, you’re far off! Boy, if you were close to the enemy right now, you’d be thrown down in less than a second!”
“It seems the pressure in on me but this should be good!”
Kyle smiled inwardly yet his face remained modest. “This Recruit wonders if Instructor Kingsley will allow me the chance to learn from him?”
Naked provocation! The recruits behind suddenly pulled on their head.
There was a stagnation in Joseph Kingsley’s heart. It grew dark and grim with anger. It is of no wonder Officer Brandt needed a time’s rest to cool off his anger. This recruit is too bold and a simple thorn in his eyes!
But he did not reply in anger, only chuckling. “Very well. Then I will allow you the chance. Watch and learn closely as you experience this.”
“Umm… if this Recruit accidentally hurts Instructor Kingsley, what should I do?” Kyle worriedly questioned.
“You can fight freely! This is an order!” Joseph Kingsley waved his hand and beckoned Kyle.
“Then, this Recruit won’t be polite, Sir!” As his voice fell, Kyle moved and was now only a few steps away from Joseph Kingsley. His hands clenched and unleashed the【Boxing Master】skill card.
【Boxing Master】: Green skill card. Grasps the practical and fundamentals of boxing. Focuses on close handed combat.
Joseph Kingsley hadn’t expected, no, he’d never thought that Kyle had full mastery in boxing and knew the fundamentals and theory behind it fully. He hurriedly drew back and hastily put up a fighting method of defense resulting in a hidden pressure.
Regardless of the instructor’s rank, Kyle paid it no mind and unleashed his skill to its fullest. His moves weren’t fancy, only straight to the point and simple. His end goal, after all, was to use the instructor as a sandbag for his training.
“Don’t get too cocky!” Joseph Kingsley paled and he soon felt the eyes of the recruits standing orderly behind slowly change in disbelief.
Because of the same skill proficiency level in boxing, Kyle seemed equal to the instructor on the surface, but in truth, Kyle struggled to keep up.
His breathing was hurried and his legs seemed ready to give. Just as he thought, his physical conditions needed to be improved.
“Enough! You can’t beat me just by learning boxing!” Joseph Kingsley began his counter movements and instantly put pressure on Kyle. His hands stretched out and landed fierce strokes of punches on Kyle’s flesh.
“Indeed… you’re right but I have something…” Kyle gasped, trying to resist the other party’s attack while he focused on extracting the instructor’s skill cards.
【Boxing Master】,【Fighting Endurance Master】,【Counter Fight Master】,【True Fitness Body】…
Scouting through the instructor’s list of skill cards, there were a few sets of skill cards designed to improve his body’s physical condition. Moreover, they were green skill cards and among them was a rare green skill card!
“Huh… no wonder I felt a sudden great pressure when he began his counter attack!”
Kyle’s eyes flashed and he soon began extracting the skill cards from Joseph Kingsley.
The extraction of the green skill cards needed three minutes of time for it to be a complete success.
This was his real purpose to fight against Joseph Kingsley.
He needed to provoke the instructor so he’d be able to near closer to him.
