Chapter 93 - A New Subordinate
Following the recent chain of events, I had new goals to tackle. First, I had to free Miltiades from his curse, and then remove Kais’s subjugation seal. I had to help the both of them. It sounded simple, but both tasks were going to be difficult to accomplish. At least they would be easier than bringing down the Holy Empire.
“Let’s stay positive!” I didn’t even know how to go about solving the second problem, but I had a clue for the first. I wasn’t sure why, but the divine beasts were protecting Daddy. I decided to ask Daddy about how to find the winged tiger, “Daddy, do you know any divine beasts?”
“What are those?” I received the same reply every time I asked. Even though I didn’t expect much, I was upset. They seemed to be around the palace, so I took my time looking for them. Now the only thing left for me to do was…
“Your Highness! Saintess!” … Dealing with the silver-haired, blue-eyed psycho Achillios, whose eyes sparkled whenever he saw me. He called after me, and I could see his tail wagging behind him.
“Your Highness, have you finally decided to make me one of your slaves?”
“Why do you want to be a slave?”
“It’s been my dream since I was a child.”
“… To be a slave?”
Was he in his right mind? He did what I asked and bought Hescalts Tower for me, but I felt that I shouldn’t make him my subordinate. As a villain, he seemed cool and had a dark side to him, but now that he was on my side, it was all wrong! He was just a psycho and a weirdo! I wanted to run away instead of dealing with him. And I wasn’t the only one who thought it best to keep my distance from him.
“I can’t make you a slave, but you can be my subordinate.”
“Really?” Achillios clasped his hands in delight.
Anyone who saw him now might think that I saved his land or something. I really didn’t want to do this. Achillios had to be either with me or against me, and the former was much more preferable. I forced myself to act positively as I handed a document to him.
“Oh, what is this?”
“You said this is better than an oath.” Luciana heaved a sigh. I could hear the sadness in her voice as another confidential document was made public. Achillios stared at the paper for a while and smirked, “It’s a contract drafted in the name of God.”
“Correct.”
“Oh,” to my surprise, he seemed quite pleased. “I knew the Vios Empire was involuntary, inhumane, exploitative, and uncivilized, but I wasn’t expecting this!”
“If you don’t like it, we can stop here.”
“No, I like it. Please use this.” Achillios was extremely happy as he looked at me. Although it was called a contract, it was actually more like a safety net that made sure Achillios would never be able to deceive or betray me. “Do I sign here?”
“Yeah. The moment you put down your name, God will bind us together.” I thought he would be disgusted, but Achillios still seemed elated, “Hohoho, these chains are enough to restrain me.” I looked at him in disgust. “You should have been prepared for this if you’re going to raise me. With this, I’ll be quite involved with you.” My mood turned sour as I saw how happy Achillios looked, “Sorry, but the only person I want to be involved with is Daddy.”
“Ah, don’t worry. I also want to be involved with His Majesty’s affairs, right after yours.” Who was this man? Achillios quickly wrote down his name, afraid that I would take the document back. A faint divine power surrounded the two of us, and the paper disappeared into the light. “Oh! There’s no proof left!”
“It’s on your body now.”
“Oh, really?” I thought he would strip naked if I left him to his own devices, so I hurriedly interjected, “Look for it at home later. For now, did you prepare what I asked?”
“Of course I did. Who do you think I am?” he smirked, putting on airs. I wish he was as good at working as he was at talking.
“But why did you ask me to do this?”
“I need it.”
Achillios looked at me in confusion, but I had no reason to tell him. I smiled and got up from my seat, “Let’s go meet my third subordinate.”
***
There was no room for the dead in the palace. All bodies were thrown out, no matter who they were. I knocked on the dead woman’s coffin after a day had passed at the promised time. A man was supposed to be there to open the door.
The coffin door slid open and an arm emerged. I grabbed the arm and pulled her up. A woman asked in an annoyed voice, “Why are you so late? You promised me…” The woman who got out of the coffin closed her mouth instantly.
“Oh my, you made a promise with me? I was the only one who didn’t know.” When the woman, who was holding a bouquet in her hands, saw the child looking at her with sparkling eyes, she laid back down in the coffin.
Shaking her head in exasperation, Amelia entered the coffin, “Wake up. I already found out.”
“Excuse me, Miss Helene?”
Helene got out of the coffin when she heard her voice as if she was predicting her fate, “… How did you find this place, Your Highness?”
Amelia smiled at her trembling voice, “I had to see you.” Amelia looked past Helene into the coffin. There was another Helene in the coffin. The coffin seemed ordinary at first glance, but it was specially built to hold two bodies. “Examine the body.”
“Yes,” Luciana moved on Amelia’s command. Helene had a dark complexion that resembled the dead.
“It’s Young Lady Jebastian, like you said.”
“Isn’t it? I’m so good at predicting these things.”
