Chapter 80 - Misunderstanding
“Daddy, I missed you!” I ran over and gave him a hug. The tension around him subsided a little more. Wow, wasn’t he tired of seeing me every day? Wasn’t there a saying that people will get tired of seeing a beautiful face after three months?
“I feel so bad for those who have never seen you. Everyone should bear witness to your beauty! How have they not witnessed God’s greatest masterpiece?” I was so emotional that there were tears in my eyes. It had been a while since Miltiades was at a loss with me.
“Daddy!”
“What?”
“Thank you for being born!” Miltiades sighed deeply and then smiled. All of his anger was gone. “Hehe.” Callian gave me a thumbs up. As I hugged Miltiades, I became curious about the men with their heads pressed against the floor, “Why are the Grand Chamberlain and my knights down on the floor like that?”
“They’re being punished,” replied Callian.
“Huh? What for?”
“For not protecting you,” said Miltiades. That was an unexpected reply. “Why should they protect me?” I asked. Miltiades merely laughed. He didn’t seem to take my question seriously. I couldn’t believe my ears. The Grand Chamberlain had complained that his head would roll if I left the room; turns out that might be true. I felt that Miltiades was being a bit overbearing, especially since it had only been a day since I woke up. Well, I had to do something for those poor men, “Daddy, I’m hungry!”
“You’re hungry?”
“Let’s go eat something yummy for dinner!” Thankfully, it was just in time for dinner. I grabbed Miltiades’s arm and he picked me up. I hurriedly gestured for them to get up, and a look of gratitude washed over the Grand Chamberlain and the knights.
“We’ll only trust in Your Highness!”
It seemed that they just gained some newfound respect for me.

“… So I told Berrict to take care of Kais,” I recounted what happened earlier to Miltiades, but his reaction was underwhelming. Crack. The silverware snapped in his hands. Was that even humanly possible? “Did Berrict agree to take on a disciple?”
“Hm? Nope.” It would have been nice if he had accepted Kais as a disciple on the spot, but Berrict was a serious person. “He said he was going to test Kais first. If Kais doesn’t pass, then he’ll send him back.” I had expected this. But it didn’t matter what test it was; my male lead would pass no matter what!
“It’ll be fine, I think!” I said decisively and smiled, but Miltiades made a face without eating. He seemed to be upset about something. “Berrict will be heading north to hunt the beasts.”
“I see.” Miltiades’s expression grew strange at my reaction. Callian looked at the two of us and quickly explained, “When we go on beast hunts, we clean up the overpopulated areas. Master Berrict is in charge of the northern and eastern areas, and he will probably be gone for a while.”
“I see.”
“That means he won’t be able to see you for a while.”
“I see!” I clapped and nodded. It didn’t seem to be the reaction that Miltiades was looking for. He turned to me with a troubled expression, “If that brat becomes Berrict’s disciple, he’ll have to go with him.”
“Really? I see.” I already knew this. “Oh, this meat is so good,” I calmly picked up the meat with my fork while Miltiades stared at me as if gauging my reaction.
“Hm? What’s wrong?” Miltiades seemed to be searching for the right words, “Don’t you…like that brat?”
“Huh? Who?” I asked blankly, and Miltiades looked troubled. Much to my confusion, Callian then reassured him. Who was the brat that Miltiades was talking about? Was it Kais? And the two of them seemed to be watching my reaction. Perhaps…
Was Daddy… jealous of the male lead? I was so happy I thought I would fly. I was so happy to see Miltiades jealous. I had to restrain myself from jumping out of my seat in joy. If I made a mistake, he might raise a death flag! How could I keep the peace? I knew exactly what to say.
“I love you the most in the world!” My favorite character always held the number one spot in my heart! Miltiades smiled as if satisfied with my answer. Despite trying to play it cool, he couldn’t hide the corners of his lips lifting. He looked happy. How cute! He had become more expressive lately.
I wanted to keep looking at his happy face, but Callian chimed in, “Saintess, what about me?”
“Callian?” I liked Callian, but I didn’t want to tell him yet. “Um….” I looked at Luciana, “If you become as pretty as Luciana, then I’ll think about it.” Callian looked at me with an air of defeat.
Was that too harsh? Just as I was about to tell him that I liked him too, Callian pounded the table with his fist. His eyes sparkled with determination as he looked straight at me, “Starting from today, I’ll do my best to become pretty!” Was he an idiot
