Chapter 63 - Her Highness Amelia

I blinked a few times in confusion. Miltiades walked to my side without me noticing. He picked me up in his arms as if it was second nature to him. He was acting like he had been a father for a while. I felt happy that I had helped make him this way. 

“Hi, Daddy.” 

“Hi.”

“Daddy, are you the sun? You’re so beautiful that you’re glowing. You should be shining down on everything in the world.” 

“…”

“You’re beautiful. Please continue sparkling, my sunshine,” I snickered and pulled Miltiades in for a hug, which made him sigh. 

The servant was surprised at the unexpected situation and quickly bowed, “I’m sorry, Your Majesty. I will…”

“No, actually, you may leave.”

“Pardon?” widening his eyes in shock, the servant looked at the both of us before quickly closing the door behind him. ‘Looks like his discretion saved his life.’ My interest in the servant was stirred. 

“Daddy.”

“What?”

“Daddy, so…” I wanted to ask him why he was looking for holy relics but stopped myself mid-sentence. ‘I can’t seem too interested! He won’t tell me then!’ So I brought up a different topic, “Who was that man from before?”

“…”

“I was surprised. It was scary.” I shivered slightly. Miltiades looked at me for a while before replying, “He’s trash. You don’t need to worry about him.” 

I was shocked at how resolute he sounded. No matter how angry he was, there was no need to call a person trash. ‘He looked a bit old…’ I tilted my head, wondering if he was the person I was thinking of. 

Miltiades went to the sofa and placed me on his lap. His movement was all too natural. Knowing that he wasn’t this kind of person, I felt excited at his kindness because I made him this way. It was amazing!

“Why are you here?”

“I wanted to see you.” 

“…” Miltiades’s face clouded over. 

“Your expression is ugly!” I laughed as I pinched Miltiades’ cheek and he looked down at me with a dumbfounded expression. I held his face as I chuckled, “Your expression became uglier!” Miltiades still looked as handsome as ever, but he was so cute when I expressed my affection for him. I wanted him to reveal his true emotions. “It’s okay. I’ll still love you even if you become ugly,” I pulled him in for a hug and he smiled. 

Crash! A sudden noise sounded behind us. Surprised, I turned around and saw the grand chamberlain stop dead in his tracks as he was bringing in desserts and snacks. 

“…?”

He looked at us as if he had just walked in on something that he wasn’t supposed to. Trembling, he immediately got on his knees, “I’ll bring in another tray.”

“…”

I watched the grand chamberlain as he picked up the broken dishes. ‘His hands are bleeding…’ 

I eyed Miltiades with suspicion, “Daddy, do you hit the chamberlain?” 

For the first time, Miltiades looked like he was wronged.

Although Liam, The Grand Chamberlain of the Imperial Palace, had been taking care of Emperor Miltiades for a long time, he still couldn’t get the unfamiliar sight that he had witnessed out of his mind, “I just had the scariest experience today.” 

The ladies-in-waiting looked at Liam, who was still blue in the face, “What happened?” 

He gazed back at them with a horrified expression, “I saw His Majesty smiling.” 

“…” Everyone looked at him in shock. There was a moment of silence. Then a maid asked, “Did you dream it?” 

“No, and what’s more,” Liam trembled, remembering what had happened, “Her Highness was holding His Majesty’s cheek like this…” to demonstrate, he held a servant’s cheek tenderly. Everyone gulped in unison.

One maid teared up, “Is Her Highness…still alive?” 

Grand Chamberlain Liam nodded solemnly. Everyone sighed in relief. 

“But it’ll be difficult for her to stay alive for long like this.” The atmosphere in the room became heavy. “Will our new imperial princess depart for the afterlife?” 

One person’s eyes lit up as she replied, “No, this is a good sign. Finally, now there’s someone who can teach His Majesty about love.” It was the imperial lady-in-waiting, Frida. Her clasped hands and vivid emotions eventually lifted the other servants’ outlook.

Another said, “Was His Majesty purified by Her Highness’s divine power?” 

“…!” Everyone’s eyes widened in amazement, “His Majesty…!” 

“Her Highness has..!” 

“This is some exclusive news!” It didn’t take long for rumors to spread that the emperor had been purified.
