Chapter 20 - The Holy Sword
I saw a faint white figure in the corner of my eyes. It was a young woman wearing a dress. ‘Is it a ghost?’
“Who are you? Do you know me?” I was scared, but then I remembered who I was! A saintess! I could send this ghost to heaven, so I wasn’t afraid.
“Who knows! Who should I introduce myself as?” The woman disappeared, then appeared beside the sword and held it close. “I’m the owner of this sword.”
“…!”
‘Saintess Sophia?’
“Are you joking?” I couldn’t believe her, and the ghost laughed at my expression. Since a saintess was here as a ghost, it was a lie that we saintesses went to heaven.
“You’re my descendant.”
“To be precise, I’m not.”
‘I’m me!’
“You’re quite special.”
“I don’t want to hear that from a ghost.”
“I’m not a ghost.”
I could tell from her voice that she thought I was cute. “Then what are you?”
“Who knows? Do you want to guess?”
“A fairy?”
It looked like I was wrong. Sophia laughed and responded in a soft voice, “I will give you a hint. It has to do with this sword.”
‘Well, it’s the Holy Sword of Sophia. Of course, it’d be relevant to you.’
“Was Ludwig unable to pull out the sword because you’ve been hanging around?”
“Ludwig?”
I nodded. “Ludwig’s the owner of the sword. But why couldn’t he pull it out?”
“You’re certain about this. Why do you think he is the owner of Moonlight?”
“That’s because…” It was frustrating that I couldn’t say it was because the novel had that premise.
I stood there trying to figure out a way to explain when Sophia’s eyes brightened. “Is it because you know the future?”
‘What, she knows?’
I opened my eyes wide, and Sophia laughed. “How did you know?”
“Secret.” A meaningful smile appeared on Sofia’s lips. “What do you want to do as the only person in this world who knows the future?” she asked me in a delicate voice.
I felt as if the world was asking me that question.
“I don’t know. I don’t really have anything I want to do.” I didn’t think the world was going to stay the same as I wished it could. The world changed as I did. Even if I didn’t want it to. “I need to move to get what I want.”
Like I was doing right now.
“What do you want?”
‘What I want?’ It was a heavy question, but also a direct one.
“Living a healthy life with my favorite character?” I wanted to see a happy Miltiades. I wanted him to have a peaceful and happy ending, unlike his ending in the novel. And I wanted to be there and witness it. Wasn’t it the biggest wish for a fan to give her favorite people happiness?
‘Though, I want to make him cry sometimes.’
I hid my desires and told her what I wanted. I didn’t know if she liked my answer, but Sophia laughed. “Someone’s aspirations can change the whole world.” Sophia looked down at me. “That is what saintesses do.”
“Like how you became the best paladin?”
Sophia smiled and nodded, and the area around us darkened. She became blurry, and soon, I couldn’t see her. I was alone and stared into the darkness.
“Hm.” I didn’t know what was going on, but my thoughts went to the holy sword.
‘Can I pull it now?’
I looked around the area, but it remained dark. Considering this was the temple, prolonged darkness was out of place.
“…Daddy.” I wanted to see Miltiades.
‘What is my Mil doing right now?’
I knew he was out defeating monsters, but I wanted to see him. I wanted to be with him for every second of the day!
“…it.”
“What?” I looked up hearing the shaky voice. In the darkness, a flash of light came down at me. When the light landed on my hand, a different scene appeared: a dark sky with a full moon. And…
“Ah!” When I came back to my senses, I was holding the cold sword. I knew what it was as soon as I saw it.
“Moonlight Flared Holy Sword…” The sword that would only shine in the hands of its owner was shining brightly.
I didn’t know why the sword that Ludwig was supposed to be holding was in my hand, but I had a realization. I needed to go.
“Ludwig!” I left the cathedral looking for Ludwig. I saw people bowing to me, but I didn’t have the time to think about it.
“Saintess?” Ludwig responded to me in shock.
I knew I had to tell him something, but I was in a rush. I gave him the sword in my hand.
“Ludwig, you need to go somewhere with me.” Ludwig stupidly stared at me. I took a deep breath and bit down on my lips. “Daddy’s in danger.”
