Chapter 17 - Road To The Temple
Act 3 – The Holy Power of Fangirling
It didn’t take us long to travel from the Holy Vios Empire to the Rahel Northern Empire. The capital of the Rahel Empire, Helsarose, was in the middle of the empire. So, it was close to the Holy Empire.
“Why was the trip so short?” The others had wanted to reach our destination sooner, but I had the opposite thought. I was sad at how close our destination was that I wanted to cry.
“Longer! It should‘ve taken longer!”
I had been elated for the past three weeks. I was next to Miltiades whether I closed my eyes to sleep or opened them to wake up.
“It was heaven.” I didn’t need to study or pray! All I had to do was fangirl over my favorite character! I could also enjoy Miltiades discussing serious matters with Callian with me in his arms.
Luciana finally opened her mouth when she couldn’t handle it. “Saintess.”
“Hmm?” I turned around, looking at him.
“Please calm down,” Luciana said.
I tilted my head. “Why?”
“Your gaze is only focused on your father, Saintess.”
Her expression snapped me back to reality. I tried my best to hold back. I leaned toward her and asked in a low voice, “Was it obvious?”
‘Then there’s nothing I can do.’ I was sad, but I turned my gaze toward something else. I saw a mountain far away. ‘Ten, nine, eight, seven…’
The mountain was a mountain and the sea was the sea. I finished counting the numbers in my head.
‘…Two, one, done!’
I looked back at my dad.
The sight of him became more exciting after I had looked at something else for ten seconds.
‘How is he so good looking?’
His hip where his sword rested was handsome, and his fingers holding the piece of paper looked amazing.
Luciana, who was next to me, shook her head. She sighed in defeat, but I ignored her.
“Hey, Luci. Daddy told me he was a bad person.”
“I…see.” Luciana didn’t know how to respond. She might have heard the rumors about him.
“But did you know? If someone was really bad, they would never say that.”
It was true that Miltiades was a bad guy. However, compared to his future self, he was a good person right now.
‘What can I do…’ My chest felt heavy. ‘What can I do to stop Daddy from becoming a villain?’
When the novel introduced Miltiades, he was already the villain. However, he still became a character immensely popular with middle-aged women. I was a minor who liked him. There was no way I would have liked him if he had an ugly appearance!
“Ah, I want to read it again,” I muttered, sighing.
I wanted to read the moment Miltiades first appeared in the novel. I missed my favorite character’s scent that I had in my room. I had a limited edition Miltiades cologne, and I wanted to brag about it to him!
“Ah, I want to cross dimensions! Or bring my room into this world! Aaah! I don’t hope for anything else! My fan items!”
“Saintess, calm down. Saintess!” Luciana calmly stopped me since I had started to frequently have these outbursts. Thankfully, these outbursts didn’t last long. “Saintess, your father is over there! He’s looking at you!”
‘That’s right! Miltiades is in front of me. What use are those items?’
I brightly smiled while Luciana sighed. I reckoned she might have whispered to herself that she ‘wanted to throw away everything.’
“Heuk.” I couldn’t control my emotions, and Luciana looked at my crying face with a confused expression.
“What’s wrong, Saintess?”
“I suddenly feel so sad.”
“I feel so bad for the people who’ll be born in the next generation.”
“They can only experience Daddy in the history books!”
I could feel Luciana put some distance between us, but I didn’t care too much because Miltiades had started walking toward me.
I grabbed his outstretched hand and nodded. We were finally on the road to the Revelenon Temple.
* * *
In the original novel, Priscilla had never gone to the Revelenon Temple. I had only read a bit about it, so I only knew that the Holy Sword was there.
“Get back!” Miltiades urged.
That was why the sudden appearance of a beast left me speechless.
“Don’t leave the carriage,” he said lowly.
When the beast came out of the shadows, Miltiades left me inside the carriage and went out. I was surprised when I saw it.
“So that’s what a beast looks like…”
The being didn’t look like a human or an animal. It was ominous and unpleasant to look at when it attacked.
