Chapter 7 – Sisters (1)
The eldest miss and the second miss of the Shen family were both born out of Shen Xiao’s concubine’s room. And the temperaments of these two females are vastly different from that of the mad Shen Ziqiao. They were raised by the old madam Shen from an early age, not to mention they looked noble and dignified, with a gentle character. They naturally resembled a proper lady of an influential household more than Shen Ziqiao.
“Grandmother, I heard you got a piece of beautiful jade. We sisters have specially come to envy you,” a clear but tender voice rang out the room.
Shen Ziqiao looked sideways. As soon as the bamboo curtain was lifted, two girls who looked around fourteen to fifteen came in. Walking first, taking the lead, was Shen Ziwen, the eldest daughter of the Shen family. She was wearing a pink-embroidered, double butterfly opera yarn shirt and paired with a horse-faced skirt. She looked truly beautiful and…well-endowed.
T/N: This is how Shen Ziwen’s attire looks like.
Her hair was parted into spirals to the sides. It looked like snails rolled up exquisitely; her hairdo looked very much complicated. Moreover, gold and silver ornaments adorned her head, which almost blinded Shen Ziqiao’s eyes.
Shen Ziwen was followed by Shen Zifen, the second young miss. Her figure isn’t that rich as that of her elder sister, but she stood out just fine with her small, exquisite frame and fair skin. She was wearing an embroidered pipa collar silk jacket and when she smiled, two small dimples would attractively appear on the corners of her mouth.
When reading the book, the author had hardly described the two girls in detail. Seeing them in the flesh, she thought they didn’t look too bad at all. Her only concern now was just–she isn’t in the clear on the original owner’s relationship with the two.
This made Shen Ziqiao feel doubt whether she has really crossed into the same book. Perhaps even, this was a parallel space with a quite similar plot in the book.
“Why, the third younger sister is here, too. Didn’t you go to the Thousand Buddha Temple?” Shen Ziwen gave Shen Ziqiao a cursory glance before ignoring her completely to go to the old madam. She took the fan in the hand of the servant girl and fanned the old madam Shen herself.
“Did the third younger sister see the ninth prince?” Without waiting for Shen Ziqiao to answer, Shen Ziwen asked again.
Such a statement roused a scoff from the Old madam Shen with a cold face.
Shen Ziqiao did not understand the temperament of the two sisters yet, so she didn’t dare take them lightly. Whenever they said anything, she just kept her head down.
“Grandmother, didn’t you say you wanted to eat fried lotus seeds? I’ve learned how to cook it; I’ll fry you a plate for dinner.” Shen Ziwen smiled like a flower and said amiably to the old madam Shen.
The old madam Shen loves these two concubine-born granddaughters the most. Compared with Shen Ziqiao, the two girls had a more pleasant countenance.
“It’s a shame to go to the Thousand Buddha Temple. It’s better to stay at home like your two sisters, learning to cook and do needlework,” Old madam Shen looked at Shen Ziqiao coldly. From the small table, she took a copy of The Collection of Virtuous Women and handed it to her.
“Until you’ve copied it 10 times, you are not allowed to step out of the door.”
It’s The Collection of Virtuous Women… Don’t tell me that the old woman’s table is full of such books? Don’t tell me she has the collection for Women’s Principles and Biographies of Women too?!
On a positive note, there was no mention of Qi Zheng—doesn’t the old madam know about it?
“Yes, grandmother.” Shen Ziqiao took the book over and thought this was a good opportunity to give her time to digest this magical crossing nightmare.
She hopes it’s really just a nightmare.
Old madam Shen ordered two servant girls to send Shen Ziqiao back in person, in case she sneaks out halfway in the way. But this suits Shen Ziqiao’s situation just fine. After all, she doesn’t even know where her room is.
They went back to her courtyard. And Shen Ziqiao saw two maids with double side buns standing guiltily in front of the stone steps. When they saw her, they immediately came over and welcomed her.
“Third miss, welcome back.”
At least 80% of the people in this yard are other people’s eyes…
Else, how else would the old madam Shen know she has gone to the Thousand Buddha Temple as soon as she turned around. If it hadn’t been for Sheng Peiyin’s help to get rid of her four personal maids, maybe at this time she won’t be copying just The Collection of Virtuous Women.
Don’t scare the snake for the time being. Let’s wait and see what happens; familiarize yourself with the environment, and then decide the next step, was what Shen Ziqiao thought at the moment.
T/N: Hello everyone, moon-er here! I’m so happy to be able to finally release His Transmigrated Cannon Fodder Fiance. This novel leans more on the gag side, quite like Doomed to be a Cannon fodder. However, our MC is not demure at all. You’ll see in the following chapters how she deals with vindictive antagonists–that is with a slap. She cuts to the chase and is not fond of playing mind games. But I find the male lead and her interactions the golden part of this novel. If you’re interested in a cat and dog type relationship, you’ll love this. But of course, our male lead becomes very pampering of our unruly Shen Ziqiao.
Also, if it’s alright with you guys, we would appreciate if you would leave reviews for our novels on novelupdates if you can and update it according to the latest chapters you’ve read. As well as replacing the image in His Transmigrated Cannon Fodder Fiance with the one posted here in wordexcerpt y o y
Thank you very much and Happy holidays!
Please check out our other newly released Korean webnovels here on Wordexcerpt:
- Revenge type novel with a twist. MC is vindictive, screams FEMALE EMPOWERMENT (and she wields the sword with her mighty magic). And the story is heavily driven by plot and the romance is built up quite nicely with the male lead (one she makes a contractual relationship with, not that damned Albert). Although MC is more of a stoic, unsympathetic person, her emotions and character grow as the story commences. And in the long run…there will be smut as the sexual tension builds up.
- This novel has the ‘transmigration into the book as the villainess’ theme, only it’s in a western, desert setting plus there’s world-building and magic. It’s the same author from Lucia, and this time, our MC is more proactive, although on the cautious side. And there’s sizzling, electrifying smut in this. This is a slow-burn type of novel you have to read for a literary experience.
