Chapter 95 - Dreaming Princess
‘Why did I do that just now? Laying my hands on the Crown Prince. Should I ask for forgiveness?’
While Ella was thinking about her dilemma, a question was asked to her, “What are you trying to do that requires their assistance? While also keeping it secret from your family?”
No longer a teenage boy, Cladis’s face was like a lion as he asked her that question. Because of that, Ella’s expression also changed. She reminded herself of what she was going to say, ‘Is it okay to tell him this? How will he react to this?’
Nothing was certain. It would be good if she kept her promise from last night. If he only thought about keeping her by his side, this seemed to be the best way. But maybe his attitude would change after hearing all of this.
All kinds of concerns tried to persuade Ella to speak of different reasons, but she didn’t change her mind. She had a bit of hope that Cladis was the same man she knew. That he would understand, and also if he betrayed that belief, then it might be easier to choose her path. With or without him, she had to face the Emperor in the end.
“How much do you know about the ‘Dreaming Princess?’”
Cladis couldn’t answer right away because of this sudden unexpected question and just stood there blinking. He didn’t expect such a response to his question, so he couldn’t remember the words she said right away.
It was a title given to women born in the families of marquis with special powers involving unique dreams. Why was Ella talking about such a title? Cladis, who had been looking for an answer to that question, froze as he found the answer. The burden of the title weighed heavily.
He then instinctively denied Ella’s words, “Do you know the meaning of that title? How are you so certain that the dream you had is because you’re the ‘Dreaming Princess?’”
Ella realized his rejection through his words. It was a natural feeling. Foreseeing the future through dreams might seem like a blessing, but in Duffspe, it was different. The appearance of a Dreaming Princess meant it was a sign of an upcoming catastrophe.
Most of their dreams were warnings of disasters and chaos. The era of the Great Chaos was proof of what might happen if their warnings were ignored. As such, most of them became empresses. There were no other women who could protect the country from the disaster since they knew what was to come.
‘It’s like a cheat code.’
It was because of them that the empress nowadays had gained tremendous power. There was one empress amongst them who had achieved the greatest feat. Even during the Great Chaos, when two empires were born, she had protected Duffspe. There was a saying she left behind that was passed down to both families, the marquis and the imperial family, “You know that those who dream know the answer.”
“Are you speaking of the words that Empress Reyshil had left behind?” asked Cladis.
“Yes, Your Highness. And I now understand why she had said it in such a way.”
When she told Evan that she dreamed of it, she said the proof was her dream because it was easy to explain. But after visiting the slums and thinking of Marquis Tuchizen, she had many thoughts. A certain theory had popped and struck her mind.
‘Maybe that’s why this world keeps on bringing foreigners like me.’
If they had also gone through the same situation as Ranhee, they must have read or seen what was to come in the future. There might be few, like Clara, who would have used it for their own good, but there must have been people who would have worked to protect the world from the upcoming disaster, just like Ella was doing. If they were women, dreams would have been a useful excuse.
After coming to such a conclusion, Ella now understood why women born in families of marquis acted that way. All of them had shown extraordinary actions, but it didn’t seem weird if they were from foreign worlds. For example, Empress Reyshil was famous for wearing pants, which was unusual for women in this world.
