Chapter 383 - One Promise
“Tilly.”
“Great. Then I will prepare the wizard of the Imperial Palace. We have to save the village with a minimum number of people, so we have to select elite knights.”
“Thank you, Tilly. If you didn’t understand, I would have been a little scared.”
That means she would have gone even if she was by herself.
In response to Ella’s answer, Cladis praised himself for the choice he had made a moment ago. If he had tried to keep Ella in a safe place and prevented her from going, she would have left his hand and would have flown away. Goosebumps formed all over his body when he imagined her in danger in an unfamiliar place. Imagining himself finding out about Ella and seeing her moving towards the place where those who had slaughtered people in a village mercilessly were, he couldn’t stand it. He never wanted to go through such a situation.
“Ella, promise me one thing instead.”
“Promise what?”
“If you are going to do something dangerous, tell me. Don’t ever think alone and never take a risk alone. Can you promise me that?”
“Well, there’s a condition instead.”
“What condition?”
He wished Ella would answer right away, but she wasn’t going to listen immediately. In response to Cladis’s reaction, Ella looked at him and smiled. It was because she knew what was making him worried and why he was asking her to promise. She was also worried about the same thing for Cladis.
Cladis did share a lot of things with Luciella in the novel, but the most important things were arranged with his people. Ella didn’t want him to act like the one in the novel.
“Before Tilly does anything dangerous, please tell me. Don’t go to dangerous places by thinking alone and making decisions on your own. If that happens, I won’t be able to bear it.”
Her warm eyes finally went and got wet. Just imagining that she would go through what Luciella had gone through in the novel, her eyes welled up with tears. She knew she wouldn’t be able to bear it. Perhaps, she might go crazy.
Then what if, unlike the novel, bad news is delivered?
Even her imagination stopped because of her fear. The fear and anxiety in her eyes were darker than the eyes of Ella, who had nightmares that day.
She had the same imagination as me.
Cladis instinctively noticed that. The fear and anxiety in Ella’s eyes made his heart break. He didn’t want her to go through something like that just by her imagination. He slightly bit Ella’s lips, which were trembling. Then he looked into her surprised eyes and pressed his lips to her forehead.
“Relax, Ella. What you imagined won’t happen.”
After that, friendly words and tender kisses landed on Ella endlessly. Her eyes, nose, and lips. There was nowhere that his lips didn’t touch. After wandering around for a while around her face, he finally returned to her lips.
“If you want, I’ll be the hero to save the world. And I’ll let you see me being the hero. I promise.”
His lips, which approached with his reliable promise, softened her heart, but she quickly closed her mouth.
“Not in the Imperial Palace!”
“Why?”
“Because I still want to see Tilly often after Welcome Week is over.”
At Ella’s cute remarks, Cladis pulled up both hands and backed away from her as if he had lost. He was willing to listen to her wishes whenever. In particular, if her request satisfied his heart, there was no reason not to grant her request.
“Then, let’s put it off until next time.”
Instead, he suggested with a mischievous smile. Ella wondered where he learned such behavior, and she smirked at his witty remarks and grinned. It was much better to act this way rather than be anxious and worried about her. And it made her anticipate next time.
“Next time?”
“Next time.”
The two of them, who melted away the anxiety and worries of the future in their sweet gazes, faced the remaining problems with stronger hearts. He secretly arranged the people he could mobilize, and Ella prepared the number of people she could gather. As a result of such corrections, approximately 20 people were gathered. While continuing the conversation about a wizard who could move them again, Cladis told Ella the problem that he had forgotten.
“I’m investigating the cause of the disappearance of the report. From what I’ve found so far, it seems that the report disappeared just two days after it was received.”
“Just two days?”
“Isn’t that shocking?”
Cladis smiled cynically and spoke as if it were a stranger’s business. But his eyes didn’t look careless. He had the will to not let the culprit alone if the culprit was caught.
“There is probably no chance, it was found by accident, and someone took it.”
“Seems like it.”
“Even within the Imperial Palace, aren’t there only a few families that can exert such power?”
“You are right. And when Evan tried to investigate the Dolan Mountains, there was only one who objected.”
“No way.”
“I’ll have to do some more research, but what you are feeling now is probably right. If it’s him again. This time, it won’t end like last time.”
Recalling the punishment, which ended in only formal probation despite all those crimes, Cladis gritted his teeth. Ella had not forgotten about it either, so she nodded with all her might and agreed with him.
“Oh! Come to think of it, Dayson wasn’t even following the directions of his probation. Yesterday, I heard he visited the Duke of Tuchizen.
“What? That bastard. More than that, how do you know that? Have you been watching his moves?”
“I heard from Xyle yesterday. Why would I watch his moves? Wait, should I have done that?”
“Now that I think about it, I think I should have told Narwin to keep an eye on him.”
“Do you think His Majesty did it?”
At Ella’s question, Cladis’s eyes changed. Perhaps, as she said, the Emperor already had his eyes on Dayson. If so, there was a way to get that information in the middle.
“I should find out more.”
“You have a lot of work to do, so I’ll just get going.”
“Well, I want to hold you, but I can’t.”
“We’ll meet again in the evening.”
“Yes. So, I’m not holding you now.”
