Chapter 382 - Fight Together
“Great. I’m now greatly indebted to the owner of the Magical Tower. So, will I be able to hear the answer from Sha tomorrow?”
“Before that, there’s something we need to prepare.”
“Prepare?”
“Yes, we need knights and wizards.”
He couldn’t understand why Ella was requesting knights and wizards. Although the sudden request made him perplexed, he knew she wouldn’t request such things without a proper reason. His calm, sunken eyes asked Ella for the rest of the explanation.
“What are you going to do with them?”
“According to Jans, the cycle of events is a full moon, half a month. And the date of the most recent incident that Xyle discovered was 21 days ago. So maybe six days ago, another incident happened somewhere we don’t know.”
Although he had already heard the news from Evan, Cladis’s heart ached, hearing it again. It was not a pleasant feeling for the people of the Empire to be sacrificed helplessly to someone’s greed. No, it was a mess. If it weren’t for Ella, he would have spit out the abusive language as he did in the meeting room yesterday. Then, soon after, he realized what Ella was thinking.
“If Sha tells you the location of the incident, are you thinking of going there?”
“The magic circle will be drawn from the evening. Its completion is probably the next morning. Once Sha tells us the location of the incident, we have eight days until the incident occurs.”
“The majority of incidents occur in border areas. Among them, the fastest place is 10 days away. If we are unlucky, it could happen in a place that takes more than two months.”
Cladis understood Ella’s plans, but it was reckless. No matter how fast the horse ran with the help of the wizards, it was unreasonable to pull the distance from 10 days to eight days. It would be possible if the wizards and the knights ran one-on-one and put haste, but it was an impossible schedule for the wizards who would cast magic. The number of wizards who could do that was not enough. Moreover, if their target was a village two months away, this calculation became unnecessary.
“I can aim at least ten days away.”
“Ella, we don’t have enough wizards to make your plans come true.”
“So, I asked Madilco. He said that there are wizards who use movement magic in his tower. He will send at least five wizards.”
“Five?”
There will be five wizards who will use movement magic. He didn’t know there were so many wizards in the Red Minas Chain Tower. Those wizards were only known for surviving by being parasitic on the merchant in the deformed tower. If they truly had such power and their promises were kept, there was a little bit of hope.
“If they only aim for ten days, I think it might work.”
“They will need time to move and time to prepare the magic circle.”
“Since the villages where the incident took place have been concentrated in the south, we should put our hopes in it.”
It would have been great if there was even a slight chance that there won’t be any more incidents. They hoped for that, but unfortunately, it would be difficult if that incident didn’t happen. If it doesn’t happen, it means that the Tears of Ceilin have already been summoned.
It was terribly sinful to have to hope for such an event to happen, but now, they have decided to stake everything on another hope.
“We need to have a workforce that can go as far as possible with the minimum number of people. So that they can arrive within 8 days no matter where it will be.”
Ella seemed preoccupied with saving the village, but Cladis couldn’t help but think of other possibilities. If they sent a minimum number of people, they could easily be attacked. It was not right to sacrifice those who were sent as a small number of elites.
“If we are unlucky, they could go to the rescue and be sacrificed with them.”
“But that doesn’t mean you can’t sit and not think about a way to save them. We have to do something.”
“Ella.”
Cladis’s point was also correct. Perhaps a better answer would be to focus on the dimension shift magic circle rather than the village. But what if the village that is ignored is the last target? Then, an epidemic will begin. Once an epidemic starts, it takes a long time to resolve it. Ella recalled the endlessly increasing number of victims in the novel.
“I’m sorry, Tilly. I can’t do that. I’d do anything if I could reduce the number of victims as much as I can and also if I could slow the speed of the world even a little.”
“What do you mean, Ella? What do you mean by slowing the speed of the world?”
“If we leave it like this, we will all die.”
“What?”
“I have seen and heard the screams of the people and lands being destroyed.”
Ella’s face darkened infinitely, as she remembered the final scene of the world that Didi showed her. And Cladis hugged Ella with a shocked face. When he had heard from Ella that she had dreams as a princess, he had thought it was merely a dream warning of a great disaster. It was so because Ella told him about her dream with just a simple explanation. Afterward, he investigated the princess’s dreams, but it was difficult to guess in advance what kind of dream she was dreaming. With the face he saw in the carriage that day, he had thought it wasn’t just a mere disaster. But her dream was worse than his guess. “Destroyed lands” didn’t leave his mind.
“It’s okay, Ella. That won’t happen. I will stop it.”
“No.”
“What?”
An unexpected answer came back to him as he comforted Ella after spitting out his words bitterly. The look in her eyes was different from what he expected. She was not afraid and worried but was burning with a will.
“We will prevent it. I won’t ever make you stop it on your own.”
He should have said she should stay in a safe place since it’s dangerous, but he couldn’t say it. It was because he was reminded of her efforts and deeds that she had done so far. She did not hide at any moment, and she did not hesitate. She could have easily backed off if she wanted to be safe, but she didn’t and took the initiative to fight. It was the path she had chosen because of her desire. He wanted to respect it if she really wanted to.
“If it’s your will, I am willing to do it with you. I won’t let you stop it on your own either.”
