Chapter 380 - Don’t Envy Anyone
Ella felt sorry for Cladis, who didn’t let go of her hand, even at a moment like this, so she held his hand tightly with both hands. It might be too much information for him to digest at once. The fact that so many things happened with one malicious intent would be shocking. However, the person he loved so much already knew part of it from a long time ago and kept that fact a secret from him until now. It was obvious that Cladis found it difficult to accept. Ella could understand why he couldn’t understand. She could make excuses saying it was for him, but that didn’t cover the fact that it was too late. She definitely had few chances.
Ella waited for him to calm down in silence instead of giving excuses.
“Are you sure he’s someone you can trust?”
After a while, Cladis asked in his usual voice. He didn’t want to believe the story Ella had told him, so he denied the existence of that information. Ella, who didn’t understand why he denied Didi. Only after facing him did he ask her again if she felt his feelings.
You don’t want to believe it.
His rejection was also evident when he stubbornly turned around and looked only at the front.
“He’s someone I can trust more than anyone else. I wanted to introduce him to you as well. Actually, on the day we met Sha, he was supposed to come too.”
“Was he?”
It was a positive response, but his voice was dry. Ella wondered what she could say to ease his mind a little. She felt sorry for Cladis, who was hurt, so she was looking for words to comfort him.
“The day I first met him, he explained to me how difficult it was for you and why you had to do it.”
“What?”
“He persuaded me that he’d hope that I understand you. I couldn’t understand and accept everything he said then, but now I understand.”
Cladis still looked confused, but his wavering eyes were turned to Ella. She pulled his hand a little more and wrapped his hand even tighter. She had a lot to say to him, but there wasn’t much time for them. Ella wanted him to accept Didi’s presence.
“He worried about you, and he worried about the land. He genuinely worries about what’s happening and wants to stop it.”
“Then he should have met me or His Majesty, not you.”
“If he could, he would have done that.”
“I can’t listen to someone who can’t even come forward confidently, Ella.”
Certainly, he can’t be trusted.
Although Ella’s words made Cladis lower his guard, not entirely, as there were too many suspicious things. More than that and swayed by his words, Cladis didn’t like that she had taken so much risk. She had no reason to take risks. She had to be protected in a safe place, and it was enough for him to do the dark and dangerous work for her. Whatever the reason, Didi should have come looking for him, not Ella. Cladis couldn’t forgive him, who put Ella in danger.
“You’d better not see him anymore.”
“Unfortunately, he doesn’t see me anymore.”
“What? How dare he reject you?”
Cladis convinced Ella not to meet him, but now, he was upset when she told him he was the one refusing to meet her. Ella thought Cladis probably didn’t like her being rejected, and his reaction was cute. She couldn’t believe what she was thinking about Cladis, who was upset in front of her in this situation. Ella realized how much she was blinded by love.
There were times when she hated seeing Cladis for whatever he did. But as she talked about what Didi had told her, she could see better. Now, she wanted to comfort him when he was angry and hoped he would smile back at her like how he used to. Ella raised her right hand and gently caressed his cheek. Cladis, who flinched at the tickling fingertips moving away from his cheek, grabbed her hand and dragged it to his cheek again. He wasn’t completely fine yet, but he couldn’t help but sigh when he noticed himself unable to hide his happy feelings at Ella’s touch.
“Oh, really, Ella. I’m serious right now.”
“I know. That’s why. You don’t have to be serious. I haven’t even started talking seriously yet.”
Cladis groaned and lowered his head. Even so, he still didn’t let go of Ella’s hand off his cheek. His anger was slowly disappearing as he felt her hands, still grasped in his hand. Still, he was upset at Ella for not telling him, and Didi was suspicious of him. But he wanted to listen to her advice, which suggested he not be serious about it, even if he had to swallow all of his doubts and complaints. Besides, listening to Ella’s words full of concern and loveliness, he knew he would end up understanding her, so he thought it would be pointless for him to stay upset. It was something he had thought of when he was looking at Evan a few days ago. Thinking that far, he felt it was meaningless to go further.
“Okay, great. So, why is he not seeing you?”
“He told me that it got to the point where he couldn’t help anymore.”
“Who?”
“Xyle.”
“He knew everything.”
“Because he’s the owner of the Long Moonlight Magical Tower.”
“It was a position I wasn’t particularly envious of, but I’m envious of it at this moment.”
The owner of the Long Moonlight Magical Tower, the one who peeps into all the secrets of this world. So he must know those secrets well. But knowing and accepting were two different things. It bothered him that Ella had been sharing with Xyle about things he hadn’t known for so long.
There must have been such a secret between the two of them.
Ella grabbed Cladis as she tried to sink again.
“I like that you are Cladis.”
Ella stared at him and carefully pulled her hand from his cheek. He flinched at her attempt to free herself from the grasp and grabbed her hand more tightly. But soon, he freed her hand eventually. Ella smiled at his action and blocked his loosening hand with her thumb. Facing his surprised eyes, she brought her and his hands to her chest.
“Everything Tilly did to me remains here. So don’t envy anyone.”
