Chapter 8 – A Tyrant’s End Since Ancient Times
At this moment, Zhu Feng simply did not dare to believe what he was hearing.
He slowly turned his body. In the dark, his eyes housed an almost unimaginable glow.
“What did you say?”
This small concubine was wrapped in his pitch black cloak and was standing in front of him. Her snow-white feet were exposed, and the blood on the ground only served to make them even more dazzling white. Despite her looking fragile and powerless, she still dared to bicker with him.
“I said, they perhaps are less likely to survive. But Your Majesty may also not be necessarily capable of having a good ending.”
Just a while ago, the harem people were already scared. This time they were all stunned. All of them looked at Si Nan Yan stupidly, as if looking at an already dead person.
Not long ago everyone was still confused as for why when First Class Female Attendant Li had spoken, His Highness, Yan Wang did not intensely question her. At present, everyone failed even more to understand clearly for what reason Yan Wang did not question Nan Yan closely, even though she dared to speak out in this way.
Is she tired of living?
Zhu Feng laughed.
Qin Palace’s large fire had already reached them a long time ago. The tall flames illuminated his face, reflecting his smile. It had a kind of sinister meaning.
He slowly walked in front of Nan Yan.
“You said, this Prince is less likely to survive?”
His figure in general was tall like a mountain. When he walked in front of her, his shadow almost covered Nan Yan’s whole body. Nan Yan’s shoulder slightly twitched and she clenched her teeth together.
“Could it be that it is not so? Your Majesty from Beiping has raised an army. The whole journey towards the South, what military order did you give them?”
Zhu Feng frowned, “Armed rebellion.”
Nan Yan lifted her head, her pair of black and white clear eyes looked at him. While also pointing to the corpses around him she said,
“This, is a young palace eunuch named Shun’er who is usually inside of the Eastern Garden Courtyard running errands. All year round, he has not seen The Emperor’s face much. Furthermore these people you have captured are merely palace maids who work in the imperial harem, and some are First Class Female Attendants. Ever since entering the palace they have also hardly seen The Emperor.”
“They are without the strength to truss a chicken. It is even more impossible for them to be unfaithful at The Emperor’s side “
“Your Highness’s armed rebellion nevertheless killed these people.”
“Is this the armed rebellion you ordered?”
“Your Highness, tonight you slaughtered all the way into the Imperial City, and corpses lie all over the palace. But for the sake of what? If you keep willfully slaughtering the innocent, even if in the future Your Highness ascends and claims the title of Emperor, your name as a ruthless tyrant will spread, nothing more.”
“Your Majesty is aware with the things of the past and the present. Could it be that you are unaware of this? Since ancient times, what is the fate of a tyrant?”
“Tonight they will certainly not be able to live. But how long will Your Majesty’s good days last?”
Once she finished speaking these words, the surroundings all at once became quiet.
All of the people looked at her with an indescribable look, like looking at a dead person —- someone actually dared to say these things in front of His Highness, Yan Wang!
Is she really tired of living?
After Nan Yan spoke those words in one breath, she raised her head to look at Yan Wang. When she noticed his eyes turning dark as if bottomless, she began to tremble.
This ‘death’, she really looked for a good one!
At this time, Zhu Feng still facing her, began taking one step foward, then another step.
Nan Yan too involuntarily moved backwards, one step at a time. His eyes were like sharp swords, almost piercing through Nan Yan’s whole body. However as she gradually retreated, something embarrassing happened.
There was something slippery under her feet that caused her to slip and Nan Yan’s whole body fell backwards towards the ground.
Nan Yan – Our female lead.
Yan Wang/Zhu Feng – Zhu Feng is his birth name. Yan Wang is a title giving to Zhu Feng by the emperor in honor of his princely status. All brothers of the emperor are consider princes.
Emperor Gao Zu (高祖) – The deceased emperor. Zhu Feng’s father.

Shun’er (顺儿) – Young eunuch that served in the Eastern Garden Courtyard.
Shun is his name and ’er is a suffix that used in an endearing manner. It literally translates into ‘child’ but when used in combination with a name it can be used for any age and shows closeness, endearment or to express smallness.
First Class Female Attendant Li (Lǐ xuǎn Shì, 李选侍) – Nan Yan’s unwanted enemy.
Shú Fù (叔父) – father’s younger brother.
First Class Female Attendant (xuǎn Shì, 選侍) – A title for newly chosen concubines. Depending on the harem ranking system used it could be the last or second to last position after entering the royal harem.

Qin Palace (寝宫) – ‘imperial sleeping palace’. The emperor’s resting place. Contains a chamber devoted entirely to the emperor’s bed. A chamber for welcoming guests. A study set aside for leisure activities like reading. Most of the time this study is not used for writing imperial documents. The emperor has a imperial study set aside for that. And many, many, many more rooms.
Historically speaking court rules forbade the emperor to sleep in his concubine’s beds. They came to his bed, and if legend were to be believed, the chosen one was carried over by a eunuch, naked and wrapped in silk quilt.
Eastern Garden Courtyard (东苑) – The name of a courtyard. It is where the newly entered concubines stayed. The name can be interpreted in many ways and used to describe the people living there. So this courtyard is built somewhere in the east and full of young women ‘flower garden’.
Imperial City (皇城) – The city that houses the Imperial palace that the Emperor lives in. This city has yet to be given a name.
