Chapter 8: Let’s Get Married
Before Han Feiyan came back, she had changed into a simple OL dress. Her eyes darted everywhere, her feet were a little unstable, and she looked tired.
Standing outside the rental house with a key in her hand, Han Feiyan hesitatingly opened the door.
She and Liu Yanbo have known each other for three years and have been in love for more than a year. During those three years, they have laughed and occasionally quarreled with each other. Although they had lived a very ordinary life, they were still happy.
But as she went to work and came into contact with more and more people, Han Feiyan was no longer the girl who had just graduated from college. Looking at those dazzling luxury cars, big houses, and luxury goods, she wanted to have them.
Especially after attending that charity reception last night, looking at those jeweled socialites, Han Feiyan found that her desire became stronger and stronger. She wanted to live a high-class life like them, but those were things Liu Yanbo could not give her.
Han Feiyan knew that Liu Yanbo loved her very much, and she also admitted that she had feelings for him. But reality told her that it wasn’t love that determined whether life was good or bad, or at least the happiness she wanted now, love cannot give her.
Looking at the Dior bracelet she had put on her wrist the night before, Han Feiyan felt a touch of determination and reached out to open the door.
“Bo Bo, are you home?”
Han Feiyan closed the door behind her, put on her slippers, and went to the bedroom.
In the bedroom, Liu Yanbo was packing up his things, upon seeing Han Feiyan walk in, he faintly spoke, “I’m here. There’s food in the fridge, I made it just a few moments ago.”
“What are you doing?”
“Packing my bags.”
Looking at Liu Yanbo’s frigid face, Han Feiyan felt a little unhappy. Usually, when she came back home, Liu Yanbo would greet her with a smile and give her a gentle hug, thanking her for her hard work.
Liu Yanbo didn’t have many things, only a few clothes, and some simple daily necessities. He seldom bought things for himself, the money he earned by driving every day was given to Han Feiyan as soon as he got home.
“Han Feiyan, let’s break up.” Liu Yanbo, who had finished packing his bags, calmly said.
Break up? Isn’t that why I came back today? The goal was achieved, but Han Feiyan was unhappy.
“Why? Why do you want to break up with me?”
Liu Yanbo smiled, “Do I need a reason to break up?”
Looking at Liu Yanbo’s cold smile, Han Feiyan felt her self-esteem was being trampled on. She suddenly snatched Liu Yanbo’s luggage and threw it on the ground.
“What? Am I not good enough for you? Or are you in love with someone else? You’re not leaving until you make it clear for me!”
Han Feiyan suddenly yelled like an angry beast.
‘Why?’ After what you’ve done, you still have the nerve to ask me why?
Liu Yanbo also became angry. He took out his cell phone and pressed a photo in his album. “Will this do?” he said angrily.
In the photo, Han Feiyan hugged a man, and the man kissed her. The photo was secretly taken by Liu Yanbo when Han Feiyan and the Ferrari owner were going to another hotel last night.
In the face of such irrefutable evidence, Han Feiyan became a little embarrassed, but she then returned to normal. She had nothing to hide now, it saved her from making up excuses to break up.
“OK, then we’ll break up, but you didn’t dump me, I dumped you.” Han Feiyan stepped aside and said coldly.
Liu Yanbo picked up his luggage, sneered, went out, and when he got to the door, he suddenly looked back and said, “I already called Uncle. I said I was in love with another woman so I broke up with you.”
The reason why Liu Yanbo did this was not for Han Feiyan, but for her parents, the two simple, old people far away in the countryside. They really thought of him as their future son-in-law. If he told them that Han Feiyan cheated on him, the two certainly wouldn’t be able to bear the fact.
From the older generation’s point of view, cheating was not only a big mistake but it also brought shame upon the family. They wouldn’t be able to raise their heads for the rest of their lives.
Han Feiyan was silent for a moment, then bowed her head and said, “Thank you, Liu Yanbo.”
Liu Yanbo maintained her image in front of her parents and saved their family pride. Han Feiyan was very grateful to him. She had come to admire money, but she hadn’t yet lost her humanity.
“You don’t have to thank me, I didn’t do it for you. I’m not so kind. It’s just that, your parents treated me very well. Let’s take this as my last bit of filial piety to them!”
“Where are you going? Why don’t you stay! I’ll move out.”
Liu Yanbo’s thoughtfulness, as always, finally made Han Feiyan feel guilt.
Liu Yanbo shook his head. There was no sadness or joy in his voice.
“Congratulations, Han Feiyan, you’re free! From now on, you and I will have nothing to do with each other, and it’ll be a sunny day.”
Looking at the sullen figure in front of her, Han Feiyan suddenly felt an inexplicable reluctance in her heart. She had clearly achieved her goal. Why was she at a loss?
“Liu Yanbo, have you ever loved me?”
“Do you hate me now?”
Liu Yanbo shook his head and left.
All love is the same, if you don’t hate, you’ll never love again, that has never changed.
The moment Liu Yanbo walked out the door, he suddenly waned and leaned weakly against the wall of the corridor.
Three years ago, he arrived in the city feeling exhausted. He met Han Feiyan and thought he could live a happy and simple life with her. However, in the end, he ended up in such a mess. He was tired and wanted to escape. Escape from the bustling city that suffocated him.
When he got up to leave, his phone rang.
“Liu Yanbo, can we meet?”
In a coffee shop, Yin Hanruo chose a booth in the corner, where there was no one around.
“You didn’t call me to just sit here with you, did you?”
After receiving the call, Liu Yanbo hurried over, but after arriving there, Yin Hanruo said nothing, looking at him for over ten minutes.
Liu Yanbo was patient, but that was before. His patience today was not good at all.
“If you don’t want to talk, then I’ll go. I have work to do.” Liu Yanbo drank his coffee and was about to leave.
“Liu Yanbo, let’s get married!”
