Chapter 7.1: The Door to My Wife
Carrying his luggage, Xiao Zheng floated along the streets like a lonely, pitiful ghost. Even the chilly summer wind had become bone-piercing and merciless. It bullied every inch of his skin.
After buying a dozen beers at the convenience store, Xiao Zheng chose a bench near the commercial square and sat down. He slowly drank the cold beers, but there was only bitterness in his mouth.
Xiao Zheng was an orphan. Although he lived in Pearl City since he was young, he’d never been close to anyone. Only the old headmaster of the orphanage treated him well. He even gave him his own money to read. However, in his third year of high school, Xiao Zheng, who was one of the top students in high school discovered that the sixty-year-old headmaster was busy picking up scraps to earn money while he was free. This caused the young and proud Xiao Zheng to be greatly agitated. He took the initiative to drop out of the school during the college entrance examination.
The old headmaster almost beat him to death and bitterly scolded him: “A good-for-nothing who will never rise above others in his life!”
Xiao Zheng didn’t blame the old dean at all.
Later, Xiao Zheng joined the army and became a glorious soldier. In the military, Xiao Zheng, whose comprehensive abilities were outstanding, was highly valued by the leadership and praised as a rare good seed for the military in the past ten years.
In the end, the good news did not last long.
During a military contest, Xiao Zheng, who was supposed to be the champion, caused some notorious red second generation to ruin and stir up a huge mess. If not for the old commander protecting him with all his might, he might have been imprisoned for a few years. Even so, he had still reached the end of his military journey.
That year, Xiao Zheng was only nineteen years old.
After that, Xiao Zheng left Pearl City and flew across the ocean to go abroad. The only reason he left his hometown was to earn money!
The former headmaster was old, and the orphanage was in ruins. If he hadn’t injected a large amount of money into the orphanage, the orphanage the old man poured all his life’s work into would have collapsed.
Therefore, by chance, he formed a hunting party with the Monkey of Northeast China, the Four Eyes of Beijing, the Cannon of Germany, the Handsomeness of the English horse, and the American Tina. Struggling in the world, they’d earn money through hard work.
They had spent the last five years in the rainforest, in the Gobi Desert, where people could roast. Gunfire… Bombs… Smoke. They never stepped back. Realize your values and dreams. Although he had offended some people, he had also helped the poor in society.
In these five years, Xiao Zheng had been giving money to an orphanage anonymously so that it could become the most famous charity orphanage in Pearl City. Because of this, the old headmaster received praises from all walks of life. He was regarded as the greatest charitable man of Pearl City, causing the old man to be so happy that he could even wake up smiling.
Two months ago, after Xiao Zheng had finished his last work. He washed his hands with gold and divided all the savings he accumulated over the years into thirty batches to inject capital into the orphanage yearly. Even if the old headmaster was a hundred years old, he was not afraid of not having the money to adopt orphans to satisfy his vanity in seeking fame.
Of course, if the old dean shamelessly lived to the age of 110…
In any case, Xiao Zheng was not going to show his face to earn money at an age like this. He couldn’t afford to lose that person!
Unknowingly, Xiao Zheng finished his beer. He felt fresh. “If the old headmaster knew that I was the one who gave him the money all these years, would he grab my leg and beg me to forgive his ignorance?”
Thinking about it, Xiao Zheng couldn’t help but laugh nervously.
