Between Seasons - Chapter 58
It was unfortunate—they had run out of time. Yoongun slid down the skirt bunched up at Kyuyoung’s waist and gently pulled the slip from her mouth. Her makeup had smudged, though it was barely noticeable. He wanted to ruin it more, but he’d have to stop here for today.
“There, now you can leave,” he said quietly.
“Okay.” Kyuyoung’s voice was calm. Sliding off his desk, she collected her breath and began straightening out her outfit with a serious face. She leaned down to collect the documents scattered on the floor, and organized them into a neat pile. Everything appeared as if she’d come in and given a report on her work. Without losing composure, she excused herself with a quick bow of the head and turned to leave his office. The only sound left was the rhythmic clicks of her heels growing distant as she disappeared down the hallway.
The pleasure gained from their short tryst had been more effective than Yoongun could have imagined. He marveled at how his head felt clearer and his mood had brightened, leaving him refreshed and giddy beyond what he thought was possible. It was a brief interaction, but it had solidified one thing in his mind. If engaging in intimate acts with her had such a positive effect on him, then there was no need to deny his urges. He should simply enjoy it fully, until he eventually tired of it.

“Manager Kyuyoung!”
Kyuyoung was heading towards the department meeting room, when Sanghwa’s voice calling out to her made her pause. Sanghwa was a couple rows down and was waving, so Kyuyoung used her hands to gesture and ask what was the matter. Sanghwa immediately lifted her cell phone and pointed at it.
Sanghwa: You have a hole in your stockings.
Kyuyoung glanced down and discovered a run in her stockings trailing from her inner thigh all the way down to her ankle. It had probably happened in Yoongun’s office, and her head subconsciously swung towards his door. Typing a quick ‘Thanks!’ to Sanghwa, Kyuyoung quickly headed towards her desk to grab a new pair, before heading to the bathroom.
While she changed into a new pair, Kyuyoung noticed the bite marks he’d left on her skin. She couldn’t help but laugh at how ridiculous the situation felt, as she quickly rolled up the stockings. At the sink, she gargled with the cold water repeatedly, until her hands and her mouth were almost numb, desperately trying to cool down the heat within her.
Kyuyoung felt herself seized with emotion. It wasn’t exactly self-pity, but something was welling up inside her. She couldn’t help but recall his recent words and behaviors. She didn’t want to entertain the delusion that he might have feelings for her, or worse… that this might all be a game to him. They had kissed, touched, and even slept with each other, but the reality was that there wasn’t any deeper meaning to it.
The one truth Kyuyoung could no longer deny was that she was developing feelings for him. Up until her wedding had been called off, Yoongun had treated her sternly, and now she couldn’t help but wonder if that was his way of expressing his feelings towards her. Perhaps that was why he seemed to come to her rescue anytime she was facing difficulties. Or maybe this was just her trying to justify to herself why she couldn’t get him out of her head. The attraction she felt for him was undeniable. She could admit it now.
Recently she experienced many sleepless nights, kept awake by her thoughts of whether he had feelings for her or not. It was hard to tell since when she’d started feeling this way, but it had happened, and that was the reason why she’d accepted him. A bitter smile graced her face. First, Jihyuk Lee, and now Yoongun Jung. Her luck with men was truly something. Kyuyoung wondered when she’d finally get to experience being loved by a man.
Jihyun: Manager, are you coming?
Kyuyoung noticed the mobile messenger flashing out of the corner of her eye. Taking one final look in the mirror, she rinsed her hands in the sink, wiped her hands, and grabbed her phone to type a quick response that she was on her way. Her feet felt heavy as she dragged herself towards the meeting room, but she forced herself to fix on a smile and tapped herself on both cheeks in encouragement.
Pushing open the meeting room door, Kyuyoung quietly slipped inside. Yoongun was standing up front near the podium, preparing for a presentation. He threw her a brief glance before turning his attention to his laptop. The dry glance felt careless and pierced her heart.
