Chapter 69: Good Memories To Engrave (3)
A pair of pitch-black eyes watched Su Qiuzi’s movements. Her movements just now were somewhat stiff, like a lifting puppet, somewhat clumsy to the point of being cute. He had a helpless smirk on his face as he said, “Don’t be afraid, didn’t you ride the horse pretty well last time?”
Su Qiuzi also knew that she was incompetent and while the ski slopes were gusting with cold winds, she was steaming hot. Shrinking into her skiing outfit, Su Qiuzi looked at He Yu and said, “Skiing is not the same as riding a horse. You can hug me from the back when riding a horse, but you can’t hold me with this.”
Her nostrils were a little red from the freezing wind and when she spoke, some soft white vapor puffed out of her rosy lips.
He Yu looked at her, his eyebrows drooping slightly as he gently encouraged her, ”I can’t hold you, but I won’t let you fall down either. Take my word for it. Release the handrail, slide forward with the ski poles, control your balance, and you’ll master it.”
There was always a convincing power to his words. Hearing him say that, Su Qiuzi’s heart actually settled down. She let go of the handrail slowly, took the ski pole and, remembering the basic moves that He Yu had begun to teach her, got up and slid forward.
The balance was not so easy to master. Su Qiuzi had joined the roller-skating club with Lin Qing during her freshman year. Lin Qing asked the seniors of the roller-skating club how to master roller-skating and the seniors said that they could learn it after finding their balance by falling a few more times. At that time, one of the seniors who was recruiting for the roller-skating club happened to have broken his leg playing roller-skating some time ago, so Su Qiuzi and Lin Qing were too scared to participate.
Skiing and roller skating were roughly the same; only by falling can you find your balance. Finally, by gaining experience, you will be able to slide well.
But when He Yu said he wouldn’t let her fall, Su Qiuzi really didn’t fall. Whenever she was about to fall, He Yu was able to hold her up. His strength was great, and Su Qiuzi felt like she was being picked up by him like a little chicken baby, so she thought it was fun.
After sliding around the teaching area for half an hour, Su Qiuzi gradually mastered her balance. Her ambitions swelled and she looked at the ski slopes not far away. She said she wanted to try it out and He Yu gladly agreed.
But as soon as it started to slide, Su Qiuzi did not dare to go to the Senior Track. She skied for a while on the short slope of the Junior Track first. When skiing, her body felt like she was flying in the snow and it was only then that Su Qiuzi experienced the joy of skiing.
So, with the help of He Yu, she went to the long slope of the primary track like a game of pass.
The long slope of the primary track wasn’t very steep and, as she stood on it, she looked down. She was still a bit leggy at first, but after watching He Yu, who was standing below and waiting for her, Su Qiuzi gathered her courage and slid down.
After all, Su Qiuzi was just a beginner and she didn’t have a very good grasp of speed control. Down the long slope, in the middle of the slide, He Yu could see that her balance was a little askew. Sure enough, before she even reached the bottom of the long slope, she deviated from the sliding direction and plunged herself toward a pile of snow on the side.
He Yu reacted quickly, pulling out Su Qiuzi before she rooted herself into the snowbank. The snow cushioned some speed, but the pair still lost their balance. He Yu held Su Qiuzi in his arms and the two rolled twice in the snow. After they stopped, He Yu softly asked with a frown, “Did it hurt?”
Su Qiuzi wiggled in his arms as she lifted her head out of his arms, like a small rabbit that had burrowed out of a snow pile. There was only a rosy red nose left on the pale cheeks and, under the thick black lashes, the brown eyes held a brilliant gleam. She hugged him and excitedly said, “That was fun.”
She was probably unscathed, as she could still smile extraordinarily bright while lying in a pile of snow. He Yu looked at her and smiled, somewhat bemused. The corner of his lips softly hooked up at the end and he asked, “Happy?”
Some falling snow fell on her face, cold and icy, but Su Qiuzi’s body was warm, then she looked at He Yu with bright eyes, nodded and smiled. “Happy.”
It was easy for her to be happy, as well as easy to forget being unhappy.
He Yu let out a shallow smile and asked, “So, has your impression of the snow changed a bit?”
As soon as his words fell, Su Qiuzi immediately froze and, subconsciously, she thought of the snowy Christmas when she had been locked out of the house as a child. She felt her body warm up and noticed she was held tightly by He Yu. Even in the freezing snow, she felt warm.
She remembered when the first snow fell this year. He Yu asked her if she liked the snow and she said she didn’t. The heartbeat slowly accelerated and Su Qiuzi’s eyes trembled slightly. She cocked her head and buried herself in his arms.
“Yes, and with you in my new memories about snow, my impression of snow became better.”
Looking down at her slightly red earlobes, He Yu’s heart immediately moved.
