Chapter 9: Unexpected Indifference (1)
After breaking free from Qin Xiaomeng and Qin Wei’s entangled grasp, Bai Qingyan entered the fire entrance exit and closed the door behind. She sighed, leaned back on the door, and pulled out her phone. She clicked on the address book and looked up the name of her husband.
In order to gain his trust, she tried to please him in every possible way, taking the initiative each time for Gu Hang’s sake. Gu Yezhi was always happy to see her despite the cold and icy demeanor locked on her face.
Looking at the name on the phone, the softest place in her heart seemed torn apart as if a knife pierced and sliced it in half. This feeling… it was difficult to describe.
Putting her hand over her mouth, her watery eyes reddened. “I’m sorry, Yezhi… I won’t fail you in this life… I’ll never fail your love…”
She fell in love with him all too late and the chance to start a life together was torn apart… but in this life, everything would be different.
She reminisced Gu Yezhi’s regretful life in the past as he asked her if she had ever loved him even for a second. She remembered the touch of his last kiss — one full sadness and despair; she remembered how he tried his utmost best to deter Gu Hang away from harming even a strand of her hair; she remembered how he laid in her arms, cold, deathly pale, and blood of mangled red staining his body whole…
Her heart throbbed in pain.
Tears… ah… it seemed to have fallen unexpectedly…
Bai Qinyan bit her lips and suppressed her turbulent emotions. She reached out and wiped away her set of tears and called Gu Yezhi with trembling fingers.
“Hello?” Three ringing tones and Gu Yezhi’s cold and familiar voice pierced the audio speaker. His voice reached Bai Qingyan’s eardrums and soon, a river of tears fell again. She longed to see him immediately, longed to plunge herself into his arms, longed to begin a new life with him…
Her voice was hoarse. Her lips opened but no words slipped out of her tongue. She was full of tears and for a time, she felt sad… guilty… happy… all sorts of emotions surged in her heart.
“Qingyan?” Gu Yezhi’s indifferent voice resounded once more.
“Yezhi… I…” The undulating rivers of tears could not stop. The words she wished to say choked her, preventing her from speaking.
“Yan Yan, what’s wrong?” His voice was full of anxious nervousness.
At this time, Gu Yezhi sat gracefully in GT Entertainment’s presidential office. He suddenly stood up from the high chair, shocking his two assistant standing to the side.
They stepped forward slightly, ready on stand by any moment.
“I had a car accident…” Her voice croaked.
“Car accident? Which hospital? I’m going there right now! Are you okay? Are you hurt? Where were you injured?” Gu Yezhi immediately ran out.
His two assistants, Xue Yan and Xue Ying, followed quickly behind.
“….I’m alright…” Bai Qingyan tried to restrain her emotions. “Gu Hang, he’s injured.”
Gu Yezhi’s eyebrows twisted and his footsteps immediately stopped. So it turned out she was not frightened by the car accident, but by…
Besides, she’s a tough and independent little beauty. How could a mere car accident scare her to the point of crying?
Gu Yezhi expressed a sarcastic smile as he turned around and walk back. He sat back on the chair and reached over the document in front of him and said casually, “Ah, I’m busy… I’ll be hanging up!”
And hung up he did.
Xue Yan and Xue Ying looked at one another with brows raised, somewhat confused of the current situation.
When did he become so indifferent to his wife? So… what should they do now?
He hung up.
Bai Qingyan stared at the phone incredulously. Looking down, she wiped away the tears from her eyes and wondered why Gu Yezhi seemed indifferent.
Why does he sound so cold…?
