My Little Girl (37)
With no one to assist her, Shu Nuan was forced to rise from the wooden board by herself. Each step was extremely difficult and painful. The pain tore at her body with every movement she made and cold sweat flowed little by little.
But upon arriving at their destination, Sheng Qianmo did not spare her a glance and instead gave her another order.
Shu Nuan dragged around her pain-riddled body to make tea. Sluggish she walked back to the hall, each step filled with suffering. She poured tea for Sheng Qianmo and Sheng Lingyun who were sitting in the hall. In the end, her owner ordered her lightly to, “Stand here,” as he sipped at his tea.
Shu Nuan’s head was heavy, and in her blurring vision Sheng Qianmo’s figure alternated between splitting into multiple shadows and overlapping back together. But she still listened to his words and stood behind him quiet as a statue. Because the pain was only worsening with time, her hold on consciousness loosened.
Sheng Qianmo’s visage remained unchanged as he sipped at the tea. He slowly asked the person sitting in front of him, “Why have you come to ShengHe Manor, Seventh Brother?”
Sheng Lingyun was in a critical position; how could he act freely at this moment? He coughed to dispel a little of his discomfort, and said, “Elder brother, I came to visit my little niece…”
“Oh.” Sheng Qianmo bower his head and drank a mouthful of tea with his usual elegance. He took his time to cover the cup, before saying in a light voice, “Then, why were you in the firewood room?”
Sheng Lingyun looked up at the person behind Sheng Qianmo, and with a frown, said, “Fourth Brother, you may have misunderstood something. I just heard my little niece mention that someone had tried to poison her. That’s why I couldn’t help but go over and ask for myself…”
Sheng Qianmo put down the cup in his hand.
His strength had been such that tea had spilled out.
Sheng Qianmo raised his eyes, but his face still bore a calm indifference, as if it was another man who had broken the cup just then.
“Do you like this slave?” Sheng Qianmo, still calm, asked.
Sheng Lingyun was stunned.
It was obvious that he didn’t expect Sheng Qianmo to ask him this question with such frankness…
He naturally liked Shu Nuan, but he couldn’t fathom the meaning behind his Fourth Brother’s action of asking him that question. How could he answer randomly…
And thus, Sheng Lingyun only smiled a dry smile. “Fourth Brother, what do you mean?”
“If you like the slave, This Prince will give her to you.” Sheng Qianmo said with a dull expression, with no emotion discernable from his face. As if, to him, Shu Nuan was just a slave whose existence made no difference to his life.
After he finished speaking, he paused for a moment, and then glanced at the person beside him. When Shu Nuan heard his words, she kept her head down. Her pale lips puckered as her eyelashes quivered and covered her tear-mole. But she still didn’t speak.
Sheng Qianmo propped his head up toward Shu Nuan, and with no scruples he asked in a light voice, “Would you like to?””
Shu Nuan still didn’t look up. Her brows down and her mouth a little open, and she spoke in dull tone. “Shu Nuan will obey Your Highness.”
Sheng Qianmo narrowed his eyes by a fraction. It was unsure if he was happy or angry. This time he spoke with a heavy voice. “Go back inside the hall.”
Shu Nuan bowed her head and went out as if she was now numb to the pain.
However, Sheng Lingyun was still dazed. He wasn’t sure whether Sheng Qianmo’s words were sincere. But when he saw that Shu Nuan was sent away, he couldn’t hold himself back from asking, “Fourth Brother, is what you say the truth?”
