My Little Girl (28)
Shu Nuan got to rehearsing all the time and thus deferred her returns home, but not until it was dark, before which she’d head back by herself. But one day Master Gao let them off early, and therefore Shu Nuan had no choice but to return home with Sheng Gu.
However, Sheng Gu was not willing. She went to the carriage before Shu Nuan. Standing onboard the carriage, the princess gave a faint look in her direction. “I don’t want to travel in a carriage along with a slave.”
Shu Nuan had no intention of getting into the carriage as well and followed behind it of her own free will.
Sheng Gu was a little relieved.
After returning to ShengHe Manor, Shu Nuan heard that Sheng Qianmo had been preoccupied in the military camp for the past couple of days, and guessed that he would not be back until dawn. So she did not wait for him and in such a manner she arranged some food to fill her stomach.
Since after the Yuanyang Festival the monthly assessment would still be taking place, Shu Nuan could not forget about studying just because of the rehearsals either.
But Shu Nuan was too sleepy to continue. She was lying on her back, sleeping, when she heard the door being pushed open. She rubbed her eyes and went to take a look. It was Sheng Qianmo who had come back.
Sheng Qianmo glimpsed the two red marks made by the book on the little girl’s face, and he reached out his hand to touch her face. Just as he was about to make fun of her, she turned her head away and help up a hand to touch it. She looked embarrassed, and asked, “Did you have dinner yet, Prince?”
Sheng Qianmo added, “I already ate at the military camp.”
When she heard this, Shu Nuan took the initiative to change his clothes. When taking off the belt, her hands had to circle around him. But this action was akin to hugging him, and so she stood there with her arms wrapped around his waist.
Before the moment passed, Sheng Qianmo suddenly placed his hand on her head and pulled the little girl into his arms. Shu Nuan was stupefied and tried to move, but Sheng Qianmo slowly opened his mouth and said, “Don’t move.”
Sheng Qian’s voice was alluring, with a little more charm than usual.
Shu Nuan forced herself to stay still and had to let him embrace her.
After a while, Shu Nuan could not help but whisper, “Is the Prince tired?”
“A little.” Sheng Qianmo hugged her for a while, then let her go.
After Shu Nuan helped him bathe and dressed him, the little girl followed the prince to the bed to give him a massage.
“This Prince will have to go to the Yan Kingdom and will only be back after several days,” Sheng Qianmo said.
If it had been in the past, he probably wouldn’t tell someone else about his next trip. But in the present, he wanted Shu Nuan to know.
Shu Nuan paused and did not move for a long time.
Sheng Qianmo leaned his head to the side to have a look. Seeing Shu Nuan’s head lowered in silence, he couldn’t tell her mood.
But when Sheng Qianmo faced her, Shu Nuan came back to her senses, blinking as she returned from her thoughts. Before she could think of anything to say, Sheng Qianmo pulled her small hand and held it over his heart. He vowed, “On Yuanyang Festival, This Prince will come back to see you.”
Hearing his promise, Shu Nuan eyes slightly moved, looking forward to it and yet unsure. “Is it really possible?”
Sheng Qianmo squeezed her hand. “When has This Prince ever lied to you?”
Shu Nuan revealed her pretty dimples, although they were gone as fast as they’d come. But still Sheng Qianmo had been able to tell.
Whenever he saw Shu Nuan smile, he thought that it was a very beautiful feeling, how such a little smile could wash away all his exhaustion at once.
As for trip to the Yan Kingdom, Sheng Gu only came to know about it on the second day. She wouldn’t have minded it as much if he’d bid her farewell. However, hearing that Sheng Qianmo left from Li Yuan, she felt miserable at once.
